You're kidding? Of course I have one of those

Whatya wanna know? It's an okay manpurse and you can hide a gun in a zippered compartment, I wouldn't use the one on the back though. I got it for a camera case for my wife but used it a few times. It is what it is, a big, heavy purse. Fine for around town, nothing I would want to hike 10 miles with.

I can put up some pictures tonight if you want

I originally looked at the jumbo but then after seeing the video for the new colossus and the fact that Im a big guy , makes me lean toward it now, that and the fact that ill be carrying stuff for myself, my wife, and a 7 and 8 year old as well as my carry pistol and mags

thanks for the insight

I have a regular versapak. GREAT bag.

It is, however, just a bit too big for daily use, especially in an office environment like mine, so I'm actually looking at one of their larger Waistpacks to hold my stuff.

As for travel, I prefer a backpack. I ran with a Blackhawk Cyclone, but I hope to move to a thinner bag whose name escapes me at the moment....

Atrocious.  Looks like a tactical European shoulder bag.

I have a colossus. Great bag.

That said... i've had it a little over a year and one of the zippers is coming out due to poor stitching. Really quite odd. The rest of the bag is extremely well made, but the area around this particular zipper is piss poor and it is falling apart. I've contacted Maxpedition and they said it should be covered by the warranty, but I haven't sent it in yet.

Who really cares? It's essentially a mini bob that you can hide a full size pistol and mags in that looks completely innocent to pretty much everyone. I've never gotten a funny look carrying one.

thanks for the answers guys. I decided to get a colossus. and i bought the CCW add-on along with the strap pocket for keys and wallet.

and as far as looks, Im married with 2 kids  I have already been in public hauling around diaper bags and cheesy looking kids pink and red backpacks. I have no pride left,  its about functionality and not impressing people

Not very discrete, is it?

I prefer to blend in with the landscape a bit more than that.

I have a jumbo and a colossus, both are great for vacations, great for walking, perfect airplane carry-on (netbook in the gun pouch, food and books in the main compartment).

ETA, mine are black, looks a lot less tacticool than military colors

I wish they made it a little larger so it could be used as a camera bag. I carry a lot of big and heavy camera stuff when I take it along. No mamby-pamby point and shoot for me!  The Crumpler knock off I have looks a little metrosexual (Read:GAY) and I want to look like a tactical amature photographer

You'd be surprised. In an urban environment, a lot of people carry around similar bags. Like I said before..I've never gotten a second look carrying mine around.

You can carry some stuff. I carry a Canon Rebel Xsi and a couple extra lenses in mine with enough room for a 1911 and two mags, and plenty to spare.

Pistols are supposed to be on your person not in a bag or purse that can be stolen or fall off. They are ok looking but I'd rather have a holster hidden from view.

Buy maxpedition water bottle things for the extra lenses and attach that to the outside of the colusses, course then it's REALLY huge

I carried it on a train trip to NYC. Works well and down there it did not look unusual. Up here in the sticks, sure, people will either assume you are gay or have a gun (or both).

I like to use mine (Fatboy versipack) at our local IDPA style handgun matches. Holds the pistol, mags/mag pouches, holster, and 150 rounds of ammo with room left over. A couple other guys have 'em too, and we have a large FAK stowed in another hanging on the wall somewhere handy.

I wouldn't hesitate to get one if I were you. I've hauled stuff around in it on campus, nobody even gave it a second glance.

Also, they are really overbuilt. My kids will be using this thing.

I've got a Jumbo that I think is great. Well built and comfortable for walking around town.

Around here, doesn't "stand out" the way some posters have suggested at all.

I can't be bothered to give a shit if someone thinks it looks like a murse. It carries my stuff so that it's there when I need it. My needs & convenience trumps what some asshole I don't even know thinks.

Buy one!

I have one.  I look gay as a flower arrangement wearing it.

I'm waiting for the bad guys to figure out that these things usually have 2K worth of EDC gear in them.

Come up behind you, overhand machete chop to trapezius muscle, releasing the bag, and disappear into the night.

That's how I'd do it.

I may have to withhold my judgment on the customer service. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was told it'd be covered under warranty, but I went ahead and tried to get an RMA today to send it back for repairs. Lots of hoops to jump through. Needed a picture, my receipt, ect.. and they sent me a bunch of warranty info that basically lists a plethora of ways they can deny the warranty. The lifetime warranty apparently means the lifetime of the product..so if they decide that your bag has a lifespan of two years and something fails at three, they may decide not to cover it.

I'm still sending it in and i'll see how it goes, but that's the most hassle i've gone through on an RMA.

These things are made so a would be robber cant just yank one off of you....even the buckle has a lock......to put it another way...dont close it in a cabbys door....you'll be going for a ride.

With having kids....and all the other gizmos of the time....no one looks twice at a sholder bag.

I do agree with you that a firearm should be on your person......when I have my bag.....it's on my person. The only time it's removed is when I'm driving a car....it stays on on the bike. I tend to treat it like a big holster....it's either in my safe....or on my person.,,,period. The jumbo is the one I chose....but the collosus was my next choice....and I may get one either way....it's a little big...but you don't have to pack it full...even though you can.

The video has it slam full of AR mags....don't want to carry that for long. Besides...the only reason I carry a "man purse" is because my Omega CD vest is a bit to consipctious....

I just (like 2 days ago) got the jumbo. I hate the heat of summer, and it would be near imposable to conceal a full size 1911. Since I do a lot of urban Geocaching, I think a visible pistol while doing what might look to some as snooping, loitering, casing might be bad

A good holster will conceal a 1911 in cargo shorts and a tshirt.

It also works good for my Geocaching swag, a first aid kit and water. I have to carry something anyway

I have the fatboy.  It goes EVERYWHERE I go.

this was my thoughts. down here in the summer its a little harder to CCW in shorts and a tank top. granted my Cross breed does a magnificant job but I like having other options when doing a lot of on foot traveling like when we are down at Mrytle.

That's what happened to me.

Mine had all the usual stuff: Flashlight, Multi-Tool, FAK, etc. Turns out I was using the damned thing as a purse, and it was in the way more than I liked. When on a trail or something, it would always be in the way (unlike a pack).

So, I plan on getting one of these:

...only putting it on a strap rather than on a belt. That should hold all my stuff and not be nearly as bulky. I hope to pick it up at the next funshow.

Still debating between Khaki or Foliage.

for me it wont be used for EDC, no need, but vacation and when hiking(since i live in a state park) it will be good for that. as well as a range bag
