| ...because you'd rather CCW instead? About 3/4 of the time I go out, I elect not to drink because I'd rather carry. |

I dont drink much as it is....but yea carrying sure factors in there. If i wasnt carrying, I'd only have a beer or 2 anyway. About like this. I drink at home. Cheech Marin's Independence Day DUI message: "Don't drink and drive. Drink and walk!" Heh. Actually, when I'm carrying, I usually volunteer to be the designated driver. That way no one really gives me a hard time when I won't do a shot or some such BS. |
|
Its a factor...and its the rare occasion that I will go out for a drink with a friend since the result is me not armed.
In general I dont like drinking out....need to have someone else drive, its expensive, and I wind up eating too damn much while I am sitting at the bar or restaurant. Easier and cheaper to drink seltzer or soda out and pick up a decent few beers to bring home and enjoy in my own space, at my own pace. |
| I just use extra caution not to spill any beer or whiskey on my carry piece. When the water content evaporates, a sticky, hard to clean residue will adhere to the finish (especially micro brews because of the high residual malt and unfemented sugars content). If it happens, use common rubbing alchohol and a soft rag to clean. |
|
CCW prevents me from drinking most of the time that I'd actually drink. There are only two or three circumstances where I'll drink anyway:
-fishing in hot weather, not driving afterwards -enjoying a meal, not driving afterwards -sitting at home after a hot, sweaty day, and thirsty. #1 is pre-empted by CCW and/or public-land use laws, #2 is pre-empted unless I'm at my mom's house or in-law's house for the night, that leaves #3. The upshot of this is that I doubt that I've drank a case of beer in the last 3 years. Further, I'm a Baptist and I live in the south.....

Just remember to oil it up when it is clean. |

For a slight hijack, would getting busted for underage drinking get in the way of a carry permit?
Since you can carry in 18 at Maine, I'm not sure if getting caught would get in the way of my eligibility when it comes time to renew or get a permit for another state. This has been my excuse for not drinking in college, and I want to know if there's any validity to my thoughts! |

If that excuse works for you, then stick with it, and there's no way that underage drinking can help you renew or obtain a permit in another state. |

...because you'd rather CCW instead? About 3/4 of the time I go out, I elect not to drink because I'd rather carry. Yep... I carry at all times not drunk, and when I would actually drink I would feel guilty for not carrying so I just cut booze out of my life... Problem solved! |

Quoted: I found that drinking doesn't make you any smarter, wealthier, or better looking so I drink about once a year. You're doing it wrong. When I get really hammered, I'm not only the best-looking cat in the room, I'm the smartest, strongest, toughest, coolest and best dancer - by far! |

No, I avoid drinking because of my over all generally onry attitude and I tend to become a lot less tolerant with booze in me. I was in a few too many barfights last year, honestly. Don't know about your state, but I sat in many a jails in my younger days (some of which was for MIP) and they gave me one. Haven't been arrested once since living in TN, though (knocks on wood)...this was back in TX. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

What's with the not carrying while drinking? I guess that the goblins only show up when non-drinkers are around, huh? Or is it that you guys cannot control your emotions or actions after 2 beers? No, it's because in most states it is illegal to be carrying and legally intoxicated. Quite a serious crime actually. I believe a felony where I live. |

According to most of Arfcom, you are intoxicated after one single beer. Somehow you lose your senses after a single, or a couple adult beverages. You open yourself up to a pile of laws which would turn your 'good shoot' into a one way ticket to "fuck me in the ass Prison" based solely on BAC. "He kicked my door in, put a shotgun in my face and told my wife to undress so he could fuck her in the ass and make me watch". "But sir, exactly how many glasses of wine had you consumed in your hot tub prior to this alleged interaction? And I am led to believe that the ammunition was hand loaded, is that correct?" |

Or some dude that is falling over drunk (unarmed) at the bar thinks you were looking at his woman and starts a fist fight with you... Cops come and see that you are carrying, were legally drunk and you are now a felon. Or you are riding home with somebody else and get pulled over, for some reason or another things go wrong during the traffic stop, the officer asks for your name and finds out you are a permit holder and is curious as to whether you are carrying at the moment or not. Or someone else at the bar notices that you are printing and calls the cops, or you are in the restroom taking a piss and a meat gazer trying to see your pistol gets a glimpse of the other pistol you have as well and calls the cops. I can think of a hundred more ways as well in which you could get caught. In your specific example, the guy would probably be cleared because there was a legitimate reason to defend himself, and it sounds like he was at home and not out somewhere drinking. The situation you described is one where even though he was doing something that was illegal, he also did something heroic, which probably would have trumped the weapons charge. If it is discovered you are carrying without an incident like you described and the only details are drunk and carrying, I don't think you would be looked at as a hero. |

I even googled my post and it said 'not found' And like I said, Must be that bad shit only happens when sober CCW's are around, right? Do you only wear a seat belt when you KNOW you are going to have a wreck? Besides, concealed is concealed. Even when taking a piss, or a dump. in most states You have counted them, correct? And I live in NH, admittedly a little more free than most, at least so far..... IMHO YMMV |

There are alot of delicious beers and wines out there. No drinking at all is like saying you never eat ice cream or meat.
The hard thing to master is to enjoy 1 beer or glass of wine, then stop. But if you can do this, there is alot of deliciousness out there to enjoy as part of living. |

Up to .10 BAC is legal to carry here. Even legal to drink in a bar whilst carrying. |
