Nice machines. I prefer the Toro because of the goofy drive system used on the snappers, but it's still a good mower.
It has zero capability like a garden tractor. at most it will pull a small cart on flat ground. Hi vac is what you want for bagging, it has better airlifts to get the grass into the bagger. |

I was a Snapper dealer for over 20 yrs. It wouldn't be a bad machine to mow a half acre with. We saw a lot of problems with all of the safety switches on the later models. Also, that style is quite uncomfortable. If I had to ride that thing to mow my grass, I would seriously consider goats.
Hi-vac would certainly be better for bagging, but keep in mind that they can and do create more dust during the dryer months. |

Does anyone own one? How do you like it compared to a regular lawn tractor? I need something to mow a 1/2 acre lot. I want something that is great at mulching the grass clippings, and occasional bagging. What is the difference between "hi-vac" and side-discharge models? I guess hi-vac is the mulch cut? These things looks so gay like a kid's go-cart, but everything I've read says they are great at mowing. And $1400 for the basic model is more affordable than 2000+ for a John Deere or whatever http://www.bsppwebtools.com/data/product_series/side-discharge.jpg Garbage. Even the $2000 JD is a POS. You can't get a decent machine that will work for more than two years for less than $4000. |

Great mowers. Family has been using that style for over 20 years. Only got rid of the first one to get a bigger deck and motor on the next one. Very few issues overall with pretty heavy use. I used our older one commercially for about 4 years mowing lawns. Also, what's "gay" about a go-kart? ![]() |

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read on arfcom.... Quoted: Garbage. Even the $2000 JD is a POS. You can't get a decent machine that will work for more than two years for less than $4000. If you take even the most BASIC care of your equipment most will last a lifetime... Hint. 1 don't leave gas in the tank when storing 2 Change the oil yearly 3 change the plug bi yearly 4 store inside out of the weather. It's not hard... And if you do that your equipment will last and last. I've got 20 year old snapper mowers that still fire up first pull *built before electric starters* and cut like a dream. |
