Why is the American flag backwards on the arm of the shirts and is it the same on the hats. I was sent a hat and the flag is backwards from what I would think is the right way.

Thanks for help

I understand (sort of) why the US flag would be backwards since its supposed to represent moving forward, but the hat thing is DUUUUUMB.

"When worn as a patch on the sleeve of a garment, the blue field shall proceed first."

The military are the only ones who get this right, usually.

A ton of LE, Fire Dept, & paramedic agencies have it wrong.

Because whoever made the hat is a maroon who just used a standard uniform flag patch?

Union first, reason why like someone said "towards the fight" it shows the flag not in retreat. Think of it as a flag in a parade, worn on the right sleeve, union first in the direction you are marching. On the left sleeve it would obviously be "standard"

When I send in my uniforms for repair; I get them back sometimes with the flag put on upside down.

Maybe it's the same guy who used to put those

'Help! I'm being held captive in a Chinese fortune cookie factory!'

messages into the cookies.

He's been sold to a uniform repair shop?
