I know a lot of people here are big into flashlights and I want to get my mom a durable, bright light, to replace her current crappy one. I checked SureFire's website and didn't see anything.

Great lights but I find that light's for family (Mom's,Grandmas,Etc) should use plain batteries. I stick to AA/AAA for power although I have custom lights most look at the retail cost of batteries and would not use them.

Lightflux got pretty good reviews over at CPF those above are production lights <$50 if you want smaller custom prices just go up.

Here are 2 Flashlight reviews & CPF Reviews
Here is a CR2-Ion I own one in Lime green it's the size of a AAA batt and puts out about 50 Lumens and cost about $200.

That's become a deciding factor for me when buying a light for a non-flashaholic. It may look very cool to me, but who am I kidding to think that that person will go online and buy CR 123s by the dozen, or use rechargeables? Stick to a lithium AAA or AA and you won't go wrong. At least those can be bought cheaper at Sam's Club or Costco. Most any AAA offering from Fenix is perfect.

My photon has had the same battery for 5+ years. I don't have to use it very often, but it rocks when I need it to.

Gerber Omnivore:

What happens when you bring Gerber innovation to lighting? The result
is the new Omnivore flashlight with patent-pending multi-battery
functionality
. Just pick your battery! Choose a AA, AAA or CR123 and
drop it in for a beaming bright, white light. A .7-watt L.E.D. is
protected by an aircraft-grade aluminum housing with lanyard hole to
teather it close by. One AA battery included.

For a keychain light try Bass Pro Shops if one is nearby.

You could also go to DealExtreme and, for about $8 including shipping, get her a bag of 10 bright white photon-like clones.  She can carry one on each keyring, have backups in a drawer, and/or give them away to friends.

They aren't as high quality construction as the Photon microlights, but they have survived a couple of years at least on one of my keychains.
