to loose 50 pounds in 10 weeks?

If so, how?

Quit eating fatty.  Or die.   Basically your two options.

Take you pick.

Not a good idea in any case.

Running 3-5 miles a day would get you close.

Most experts recommend 2-3 lbs lost per week. 5 is going a bit hard. But if you were to go on lean diet probably consuming less than 1500 calories a day and work out heavily it could be done. But probably not good for you and hard on your body.
3/21/2010 6:32:43 PM EDT
[#10]
Do lot's of meth or crack!!!

Most medical websites will say to really expect to lose no more than 1 to 2 pounds per week. Other wise your probably not
taking in enough calories and your metabolism will slow and your body will go into starvation mode. That's were it starts storing
everything as fat.

it is easy if you are fat already.  I was able to drop 30lbs in about 5-6 weeks one time by just eating super healthy and exercise.  But then I got lazy and fat again

How much do you weigh?

251.

Well, I am certainly going to try like hell...

If you weighed 350, definitely possible.

At 251, borderline not possible.  It can be done but it's not likely.

Depends on how tight the fat is.

I can cut from 235 to 175 in three months and remain healthy the hole time so yes it is possible with diet and exercise and you can keep it off also.....

Most of it depends on muscle mass and ability to "stay on task"

How do you do it?

I have a TON of spare time, an exercise bike, and a track.

Strict adherence to the Atkins diet will allow you to drop 1-2lbs per day - but you need to be careful as you are basically tricking your body into burning off fat via starvation.

eat fruits and vegitables all day along with some stuff like nuts, beans, lowfat yogurt,  drink plenty of water and natural juices. Limit you meat intake to a small lean portion a few times a week.  exercise.

[#26]
according to this website http://www.weight-loss-center.net/calories_in_a_pound_of_fat.html 1lb of fat = 3500 calories.  as long as you burn more than 3500*50 calories more than you eat, you'll lose that much 50lbs of fat.
if you only weight 100lbs, no way you can do it and be healthy.
3/21/2010 8:24:52 PM EDT
[#27]
That is only 5 pounds a week.  With a strict diet, lots of exercise, and dedication that is probably pretty doable.

This is partly true...   Most gastric bypass patients are on a strict atkins diet AND below 800 calories/day for the first few weeks to accelerate weight loss (while adjusting their bodies to the smaller compartment for digestion).

With a gastric bypass, sure - but that wasn't the claim.

Without a gastric bypass, it is pretty much impossible to lose 1-2 pounds per day. Anyone who tells you it is, is likely trying to sell you something, or is shockingly ignorant of biology.

Possible? Yes.

Safe? I don't know.

You can easily lose 5 lbs a week by eating nothing but raw food.

Raw nuts (go easy), raw seeds, raw fruit, raw veggies, avocados, young coconuts. No grains. Drink a lot of water. Also take fish oil capsules.

If you get too hungry just make a smoothie from any assortment of fruit/vegetables with coconut water, almond milk or hemp milk.

After a while your stomach will shrink up and you won't get hungry much.

Yes. I have done it twice. This last December 8th I was 330+lbs when I checked into an alcohol detox facility. Within a week I was down to 323 just from not drinking. January 8th I got a gym membership and started going to the gym regularly. I also began eating properly but not dieting. March 8th I was 282 lbs. To lose that weight I stopped all alcohol intake, I do not eat fast food, and I do at least 1 hour of cardio at least 5X per week plus weightlifting. I have lost more weight faster in the past but this time I have much better cardio endurance and more muscle mass so I think I am doing things a little better this time around. I should be able to keep it off this time because I realize that I can no longer consume alcohol and most of my weight gain was usually a consequence of heavy drinking.

You will lose about 3 pounds/day by fasting and it will likely be one of the healthiest things you can ever do for yourself.

Do research on the Master Cleanse Fast.  It is the easiest to do.

Find one of those 'diet doctor's'.

They'll shoot you up with a cocktail once a week and give you a bunch of pills to take every day.

Basically it's meth and B-12.

You'll lose the weight.  Can't say how healthy you'll be, but you'll lose it.

Women here are flocking to these guys in droves.

Yes.  Not easy but possible.  Set caloric intake approx 1000 below basal metabolic rate, consume no carbohydrates, and increase routine activity level to where you're basically doing light labor all day.  Walking, moving etc.  The activity is what will make the biggest difference.  You don't want to drop so far your body goes into starvation mode, and you don't want to hurt yourself.  Drink lots of water and eat GOOD protein.  Supplement for fiber, vit and min.

It'll work.  It's not healthy.

Sounds like a great way to burn thru serious amounts of muscle mass.

No thanks.

Silly.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

You didn't gain the weight in ten weeks and you won't drop it properly in ten weeks either.

Doing starvation diets, fasts, etc...are poor choices and quick fixes that will leave you weak, flabby and soft.

Lose the fat, keep the muscle, do it right, and forget the ten week schedule.

35 pounds in 3 weeks...

How!??! you ask.

Stop eating. Only eat when forced by family. Lie when they ask if you're eating.

It helps if you're suffering depression. It helps more if the depresion is caused by the death of your spouse... lots of will power there.

Highly NOT recommended.

Did it, lost about 40 lbs.  The cramps in the gut when I started reintroducing food made me think I might die.  Not worth it.
