So I have been reading over the senate bill and came across this on page 330. Apparently you can opt out of mandated coverage on religious grounds. I know this doesn't help prevent those leaching off the system and costing tax dollars, but for the low and middle income people who can not afford paying 8% of their income for coverage (can be adjusted higher after 2016) this is a way to not have to pay the penalties for not having coverage. Now all of that aside, couldn't the bill be challenged on seperation of church and state grounds based on this? Meaning another reason it could be determined to be unconstitutional?

It gives some subsections of some act to look up recognized religions. Without having looked them up, I assume groups such as the Amish and Menonites. |
