So I figured that amongst all the doom and gloom that creeps into GD, there has to be some good news. Well, I've got some. 1) I am two months away from finishing my internship and (finally) graduating college 2) I have been dating a wonderful young woman for two weeks, and it's been great. 3) Said girlfriend just got her acceptance letter into the college she was looking to get into. So great news all around. Who here is not full of doom and gloom and can share their good news! |

I predict this thread will not be very long. eta because deej is a nice guy, I'll try... I just got my headlights working again on my Suzuki QuadSport Z400 again... I am visiting my fiancee in the city this weekend and will probably have a great time... I almost got a speeding ticket last night but the NM State Trooper had already made his non-quota and let me go. How's that? etaa I am also not dead today so any day that happens is a good day.. huzzah! |

I found 5 dollars in my pants I washed last night.
I'm going to a gun show Sunday (not that they're great or anything, but its a fun guy day) This has been the most stressful week at work all year, its 75 and Sunny and my department is letting us quit working at 3:30 for a happy hour (on the office tab!) There is cold beer in the fridge at home for later and its Friday night. yup. Life is good today.

I just sat down at a public computer in Iraq.
The previous occupant had just left. Skype was not logged out. I went to log it out, and discovered his significant other in the process of displaying her birthday suit.
I logged it out, quickly.
Bonus: she was quite Now I am here with all of you. |

One of my guys in my department got back from a year layoff three months ago. While waiting for the closing on his new home, his car blew up.He was forced to go out and buy a used car. He needed basic appliances to put in this home. He was so eager to get that 8k home buyer credit that he had to BUY NOW!
I had to lay him off indefinetly today. I have to absorb his full workload once again. I pressed for a rotational layoff to help him out. I was told no. It's back to 60+ hour work weeks for me and I still have a job
Why don't I feel good about this? |

I just made it back from NOVA / DC from a week long seminar for traffic analysis. I am great full in making it back home alive and I am glad I don't live in that crap fest. I think all the NOVA Civil Engineers should have been there. They might have learned something. |

I learned a new skill (Kydex holster moulding, not super hard but I'm enjoying it)
I did well on my performance review (but all raises are evidently on hold )
I just sold a big program to a big company I am going shooting tomorrow I am LOVING this sunny 65* weather... I know it's going to get colder here this weekend but I am hoping Spring is here I will be taking another carbine class in 12 days Lots to be happy about and thankful for. http://i40.tinypic.com/jr5itj.jpg My weed whacker started on the first pull after sitting for a few months. That's about it. You have a computer, internet access, enough mental faculties to type and post pictures, and the pic you chose to post is from one of the most underrated humor shows pretty much ever... OK I am laying it on pretty thick, but hey, I'm trying...

Winter is over and Spring is here!
ETA n/m First day of spring to bring cold, rain, chance of snow to Dallas-Fort Worth
02:10 PM CDT on Friday, March 19, 2010 By JOE SIMNACHER / The Dallas Morning News [email protected] Spring will get off to a wet and chilly start Saturday, and parts of North Texas could receive a dusting of snow, forecasters say. After a high above 70 today, the temperature will cool to around 45 overnight before dropping into the 30s by Saturday afternoon, said Nick Hampshire, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Fort Worth. But with rain and a northwest wind of around 30 mph, temperatures on the first day of spring will feel more like the midteens, he said. The forecast also holds the possibility of another round of snow flurries late Saturday, especially north of Interstate 20. The rain will linger until evening with overnight temperatures dropping to a light freeze, Hampshire said. "It'll be a little colder the further north you live, but in the immediate Dallas area, we’re looking at 31, 32 degrees," Hampshire said. Sunday’s high should be in the middle 40s, with the sky clearing by afternoon. The spring chill will bring a chance of frost deep into Central Texas. Traditional spring temperatures should return Monday for the workweek. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/031920dnmetweather.1c1d49033.html |

My wife and I have our health. We just paid off a credit card and are saving up for another one (college was hard on us). Went to Twin Peaks for lunch and the rib-eye sliders were fantastic. I may get to go shooting tomorrow if it doesn't snow (yeah, in Northern-ish Texas of all places). I have an Oliva serie V Churchill and some nice single malt whiskey waiting for me at home. All-in-all, if I don't think about the rest of you all, life is pretty good. |

Wife got a 3.6% raise which is good in this economy.
We renewed our health care coverage and the premiums are only 2 bucks more total than the same time last year. We hit 64F here in WI, which is a big deal in March. My G23 has yet to have any kind of failure to feed since I bought it a year ago and another range trip this week went well. |

Got informed I am going to be training starting on Monday for the new line of business we're bringing in. The new line of business is going to bring in 50 new jobs to start off with, and if all goes well, we'll be hiring at least 100 more. My department will be also supporting the new line of business in addition to the older ones.
We also got a new phone coming out later this year that is sure to be a hot seller. New business is good business. Opening Day is right around the corner. I am getting really excited about the Rays this year. We have a great roster so far, and I hope it's a good season. |
