True. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. Not bashing police, but they just can't be everywhere at once. |

What the commercials should say: "Ok miss, we're sending help now and the police will be there in 10 minutes. Try to hold out until then." |

BTW - That's avatar material up there. The NRA should show that commercial with a slightly different ending. New ending: "Hello, Mrs. Nottavictim? - this is the NRA, and we detected a gunshot in the matrix - do you need the Coroner?" Haha, now that I would Tivo! I told the Brinks salesman or whoever they are now that we don't call 911 until after the smoke clears. |

I love how these guys break in with evil intent, looking to rob, rape, murder, slash.. and a simple alarm just "scares them off" as they go running into the night.. lol
Perhaps a dose of reality is in order for them.. alarm goes off, and intruder just keeps on coming at them.. ugh. hate these commercials. |

I think Friday is Broadview's "Scare-day". I watched a bunch this morning on Fox. I'm tired of these commercials - they're racist, and insult the intelligence of the average person - however the sheep must be buying into these tactics. With digital TV, you'd think there would be a device that could "AdBlock" this crap. |

Ever notice that all the BG's in those commercials are white? We wouldn't want to offend the 73% of real criminals out there. Oh that's brought up about every Friday around here.................Oh.........It is Friday. Well, if all fairness, she did say that the actor went to "Look like a Caucasian assailant University" or some such.

The reason Broadview calls the homeowner after the alarm goes off is to confirm an actual intrusion. In many jurisdictions police won't dispatch on an alarm companies say-so unless they have confirmation from an occupant that there is a crime in progress.
I used to work for a bank and I was on the call list for after hours alarms. I'd have to drive down to the branch and clear the alarm myself. (It was always a false alarm set off by the HVAC.) Cops never met me at the bank and the main PD was across the street, one block up. If I ever rolled up and saw something weird, I would have called 911, but the alarm company doesn't send anyone. (During the day, panic buttons were responded to because those are set off by people.) So, if the assailant in these commercials were to proceed in, grab the homeowner, drag her out to a waiting vehicle, they'd be long gone before anyone went out to check on the alarm. Unless they spoke with someone, Broadview probably wouldn't send the cops code 3, just a welfare check. A faster response would probably be generated by a neighbor calling 911 for a noise complaint. |

This thread made me look up the video on youtube. This video is ridiculous and completely unrealistic.
