| interesting move on his part. Lobby to get Chicago's laws enacted state wide then when the hammer of dead comes down on Chicago, Gura and company (or whatever lawyer wants to take the case) has to work for a couple years to get the STATE laws overturned. I can't fucking stand that guy. |
|
“This is not a black issue, it’s not a Hispanic issue,” she added. “It’s an American issue. These guns are out of control, and our love of guns is out of control. Are they insane, or are we insane?”
You are, if you think more laws will keep the gangbangers from getting their guns off the black market. |

I'm eagerly anticipating the full-on tantrum meltdown he throws when SCOTUS shits all over his little fiefdom. he will side step scotus one way or another! BANK ON IT!!! He'll just bulldoze it in the middle of the night. sadly you are correct. tricky dicky will stop at nothing to line his pockets and the pockets of his cronies! |
|
From the article.
SNIP “I’m here to speak on behalf of families who lost loved ones,” Daley said, standing before a long series of tables topped with illegal weapons confiscated by Chicago police. “This is about common-sense gun laws — that we should be protected from all of these guns. . . . One murder is one too many.” So if we make them doubly illegal then all the gun crimes will stop? AMIRIGHT? |
|
Annette Nance-Holt — whose 16-year-old son, Blair Holt, was shot and killed on a bus in 2007 — asked why lawmakers don’t do more to address gun violence.
“In a day when we are more concerned with obesity and smoking and second- hand smoke . . . why are we not more concerned with our children being murdered by handguns and assault weapons,” she said. “Why are we not outraged?” “This is not a black issue, it’s not a Hispanic issue,” she added. “It’s an American issue. These guns are out of control, and our love of guns is out of control. Are they insane, or are we insane?” Do “These guns” go out and shoot without a person pulling the trigger? Blame the person not the object, ban knives, ban baseball bats, and blame morons like you who think that an inanimate objects do things, What the hell do you think this is a Disney movie with dancing clocks! |

He's too stupid to realize that standing there with the families of victims shot during his ban is not going to help his case much. |

Here's how it plays out in my head: 1. All the anti-gun laws Daley wants get passed statewide. 2. Mcdonald suit comes down on Chicago and Chicago's ban gets overturned. 3. Daley wins because now all the bans he wants are statewide, he can repeal his bans with no worries. 4. ISRA or NRA must now go through the whole litigation circus all over again to get the state ban overturned. 5. Daley has just bought himself another 10 years of banned firearms in Chicago. |
|
SCOTUS i hope your watching!!!! the justices haven't even handed down a ruling yet and Chicago is already trying to undermine it. any ruling better be iron clad. i hope Feldmans oral arguments pissed off Scalia enough so he knows what he is up against. Feldman: let me tell you what Heller said. Scalia: I FUCKING WROTE HELLER YOU DOUCHE BAG I THINK I KNOW WHAT IT SAYS.....NOT WHAT YOU WANT IT TO SAY!!!!! |

Cities are not separate from the states, unlike the relationship between the states and the Feds. Chicago law IS state law; Chicago's authority to govern is granted to it by the state. This is political theater; when he gets shot down in Springfield, he gets to go home and say "See? I tried to protect the poor citizens of Chicago from violence, but those down-staters don't care about us. So it's not my fault." |

Get it all passed before the McDonald decision is handed down and unless the opinion actually says that the state laws are overturned, they'll still be in effect. It'll still have to be litigated again even if it's just the courts calling bullshit on IL. |

THE GANG BANGERS OF CHICAGO WANT TRICKY DICKY AS THE MAYOR... because they don't want joe citizen armed! does this make sense to you?

We're talking about a guy who once stated - on TV - that the City "chose not to recognize" HR218 because it was "too difficult" to verify who was an out-of-state LEO and who wasn't. Never mind the fact that most LEO's (like most CCW folks) aren't the ones pulling drive-bys, dealing drugs and killing kids, and are typically only discovered when they inform the officer who stopped them or go declare before they go through a magnetometer. This is the same guy who ordered the bulldozing of the runways of an active airfield without so much as a NOTAM, and got slapped with a paltry fine. ETA - he can call for all the gun control he wants and never worry about feeling the effects first hand. After all, he's got a 24/7 CPD detail to protect him. |
|
“In a day when we are more concerned with obesity and smoking and second- hand smoke . . . why are we not more concerned with our children being murdered by handguns and assault weapons,” she said. “Why are we not outraged?”
“This is not a black issue, it’s not a Hispanic issue,” she added. “It’s an American issue. These guns are out of control, and our love of guns is out of control. Are they insane, or are we insane?” What utter bullshit. By mentioning race (in a passive aggressive manner) you are doing the exact opposite of what you claim to want. |

Must be a magic # of laws when the results are supposed to finally kick in. |

I've had extended conversations with women like that. They believe guns make it extremely easy to kill and kill lots of people quickly, so if you take away all guns, then it will be harder to kill, especially multiple people, so the criminal might think twice or give up in frustration once he realizes he can't easily kill in a quick and fast manner. Also they believe guns are less personal. Stabbing to death for example requires a more vicious person because it's "up close and personal" and not as detached as shooting from far far away. (yes, I know that they don't know most guns used in crimes are less than 15 yrds) |

I always point out what Timothy McVeigh did with some fertilizer, fuel oil, and a truck. |
