Hey guys,
I'm trying to work out the logistics for my first AR-15 build. I've already got my upper, but I still need my lower. I've got one picked out, I have shop to transfer the FFL picked out, but I've got a question about the process. I went in to the place to check it out, buy my rear flip-up BUIS and meet the guys that work there. I talked to them about my residency situation (South Dakota, prior military, but relocated here officially last summer). The guy said he wouldn't feel right about doing the paperwork with my while I was still a SD resident. He also said that I need to have the new driver's license for 30 days before they can transfer for me. So, I went to the DMV the next day to get my VA drivers license (what a large leap, by the way, haha). My question is: do I really need to wait 30 days? I'm way too excited to wait that long Do places actually check your license to see how long you've had it? I was thinking I'd just go back in there after I get my license in the mail and see if they'll do it. Any thoughts/solid info? Thanks guys!!! |

If you are receiving bills at a residence in that state and have a driver's license, you are a resident. There is no 30 day waiting period other than most states give you 30 days to get a new license once you move there. The owner is being overly protective or does not want to do the transfer. Find a pawn shop or some other FFL. Pawn shops are usually happy to have the business. |
