NICE!
I almost bought a 29 last year at a fun show - until I turned it over. Turns out that the finish on the right side of the frame had been fairly badly etched due to some sort of chemical/solvent/acid spill on the revolver. I'm sure it would have been a fine shooter, but I when I buy an older blued S&W, I want it to look absolutely beautiful as well. (I mean, if I just wanted a .44Mag shooter, I could pick up a 629 at a good price much easier than finding a nice blued 29.) |
Sounds like a great deal. I'm in the market for a .44 mag too. I've purchased about 3,000 rounds .44 mag in preparation for the mail order ammo ban and I don't even own a .44 mag. But I plan to remedy that problem very soon. I would probably avoid heavy loads in that gun. It will wear out too fast if you do. I would stick with light hand loads or .44 Special loads. For a heavy boomer, I would get a newer Ruger Redhawk or Blackhawk or an S&W 629. That 29-2 I would keep mostly for display or occasional shooting with light loads. Great find! |
| I don't think they are original grips but then again I did not think they were worth that much either My 29 and 28 are worth something. I gave my brother a anaconda that I bought new for him after they first came out. Wish I had bought me one too His cost me 393. |
