So I was minding my own business when a chat window pops up.
The only thing I can figure is that this girl saw that I became a fan of Glenn Beck's book "Common Sense", which I thought was a good read. This girl is the sister of her siblings, both of whom I'm friends with but she's a high school dropout who hasn't even truly been 'out on her own' yet and she's in her 30's. She's a drama stirrer, and I knew after about her third line that this is it, I'm removing her from the friends list. But I had time, and wanted to see how it played out. I now know what Rush means when he says "half his brain tied behind his back." If you're going to make accusations out of the blue to someone, at least have a source to back it up! I don't completely agree with Beck all the time, and he can be quite dramatic, but I sincerely believe he's a good guy. She was raving as fast as she could type, so some of the chat lines are out of order as I was responding to stuff a line or so back. I understand people have different opinions, political leanings, values, etc.
What really bothered me is unsubstantiated allegations... outright LIES... about a person's character. You call someone a racist, discriminatory bigot you better be able to back it up with a transcript or something. I texted her sister and asked her is she was on (or off of) any medications. |

I've had more than one Libby de-friend me because they don't like facts given out. It really pisses them off when you show them facts on issues and the only come back is I'm a hateful person who doesn't care about my fellow man.

I had something similar happen a while back on facebook. An old friend from high school that had found me on FB. Her FB page had the Obama campaign logo and and a description on how she worked for his campaign. You wouldn't really be able to guess my political leanings from my FB page. She starts a chat session which started off blandly enough... what have you been doing the last 25 years? and stuff like that. She eventually starts going liberal and talking about how amazing The One is and what a tough job he has with all the crap Bush left behind. I decided to play along posing as a fellow traveler, then I decided to "out liberal" her. She said something about what a great idea tax hikes on the wealthy were, and I let loose. I accused her of being "just like a right-wing fascist" because all she wanted to do was tax the rich when what we really should do is confiscate all their wealth and force them into work camps to pay for their crimes against the proletariat. It went on for a few more minutes and I go in that line about the "capitalist running dog" being "crushed under the collective bootheel of the oppressed workers", and that about did it. It's been about 3 months and I haven't heard anything more from her. It was fun. |
