Howdy ARFCOMmers I would appreciate some help with the following assignment––I'm to survey friends (lucky you!) and organize the responses!
Please answer this question (emphasis on please! )

Do you consider your quality of life  high, medium, or low?  Why?   Explain.

Thanks so much!!

High

A big part of it is due to simply living in the USA.

thank you, I agree!

High.

Wonderful supportive wife, children, family. I live in an area that I love. We have food on the table every day and are very thankful for the simple things in life.

High

I have a lot to be thankful for.
Note: Most that answer high, I am willing to bet they worked hard to get it.

I'll go with high....but we are middle class.

Nice house, good family, supportive female half, and we are in a good area to live in.
Cars are old but paid and run ok.
Plenty of food on the table.
Some extra cash to do fun stuff on occasion.
Any number of buddies who I could call and in a minute they will drop what they are doing and be on their way.
Good health.
Good job - which I really appreciate.  I see people all day long in shity situations and very low qualities of life.  Makes me grateful for what we have all the more.

Hope that helps.

EDIT:

Oh yeah...and between the three Disney channels Phineas and Ferb gets played so much it is almost always on....WOHOO!!!

Thank you, I'm glad you all have a high quality of life.  After going through Cancer twice I feel as if my life quality is certainly up there.  I'm living below the poverty level but I'm making it on my own and the kids and I are healthy.  I live in a small town that I enjoy.  I would enjoy more friends but with three high needs kids, work and school full time I don't have the time to get out and make them!  But hopefully that will change.

I need a few more responses for my assignment!

Medium

I have great family & friends, but I'm getting burnt out on the college experience (5 Years Running), I'm dirt poor and have a dead end job.

I hear ya at being burned out.  How much time  do you have left to finish? FWIW I have learned the hard way that it can always be worse!  Everyday I wake up healthy I wake up happy.

medium.
plus: i have AC, food, work, car, no major physical health problems, a good dog, a place to live, never really hungry/starving/have no clue where my next meal will come from, no crazy bitch to deal with.

Minus: mental health is fucked; major depression.  feel miserable at work.  no clue what i want out of life.  no motivation or long term goals.  no pie.  feel my dog deserves a better owner.

This semester should be my last hopefully. Or over the summer.
I just hate going to these stupid classes required by the University that I take to be "Well Rounded."
Its such bullshit. But apart from that, I'll be taking out my first student loan to help pay bills with soon.
Stupid economy downturn.

What he said.

Quality of life on a global scale of even the poorest American is way above the rest of the world.

We take so many things for granted that others will never enjoy.

Good, standard of living in the US is significantly better than most other countries.  Got a job, family, roof over my head, food in my stomach, and friends.  Can't complain too much.

I hear ya about stupid classes.  I had to take two statistic classes, four anthropology classes (which were interesting but expensive) and three extra writing classes just to get into the master program.

High, but consider ourselves middle class.

QOL is high because we are fortunate enough not to have to scrape to get by, but middle class because we both have to work for this to be possible.

Feel free to quote this brilliantly lucid comment.

Medium.

I have to live within financial constraints.
I have a solid stable job that I'll retire from, but I also have those golden hand cuffs holding me here.
Health isn't what is was 10 years ago, forcing me to give up flying on my terms.

Medium.

On the upside, my wife and I make decent money (and I have great job security), live in a place we really like (both housing and geographic), have some good friends, and can afford occasional vacations and fun toys.

On the downside, I am in almost constant physical pain, which really reduces quality of life.

I'm really sorry to hear that.  As I said earlier when you have your health, you have everything!  I hope you get past your pain.  Patty

High.  You don't have to go to the 3rd world to see how opulent and wasteful the typical American life is.

I'm also a cancer survivor.

High I guess.

Got my wife, my parents a good dog and a disinterested cat. Food, gas, AC/Heat, paid for house. Got some bills to go but ok I guess. Retired but want to go back to work this spring. We'll see.

High.

I am overweight, or rather have to work very hard at being normal weight, in large part because food is overly abundant in this country.

I am in no immediate danger of having violence perpetrated against me by another ethnic group, in large part because of the way society behaves in this country.

I carried a loaded handgun into a police station today to turn in some paperwork, in large part because of the constitution of this country.

I am in good health, in large part because whether I have insurance or not, I will be treated (although likely via federally unfunded mandate known as EMTALA).

I could go on for a very long time. Are there problems in the USA? Of course, but despite those problems, this amazing experiment in personal liberty and limitation of government provides me with a quality of life and pursuit of happiness essentially unparalleled on earth.

All I have to do is work hard and take advantage of the opportunities available to me.

Compared to others in the world on both ends of the spectrum, medium.

Medium - Family life is good but I am nearing the end of my working life so I will retire soon. Provided our glorious leader can pull us out of this mess.

Medium low.

I’m unemployed and having to live with my mother right now.

I have no money for anything but the basics of life.

No health insurance.

I’m 43 and generally healthy in the sense that I’m not diabetic and I don’t think I have cancer. But I’m fat and struggling to lose weight. My body has always handled the weight fairly well, but as I grow older that’s changing.

A very good friend of mine is suffering from some very real mental illnesses. And, because of “life” I can’t even see her. I have to content myself with chatting online. (Her meds seem to be working, so that’s good.)

I do have a reasonable number of friends. But they’ve always got a lot of drama in their lives. So that impacts my quality of life as well because I keep having to listen/deal with it.

But. I am still generally healthy. I have a place to sleep. My clothes may be worn out to the point of being ragged but they are still decent. I can’t say that I’m not going hungry but that’s mostly because I’m trying to lose weight. I’m physically safe enough and don’t have to worry much about crime or domestic violence.

I’ve had it a lot worse before. And there are a lot of people who have it a lot worse than I do. So I wouldn’t really categorize my quality of life as being poor. But it’s not nearly as good as it should be and it’s a hell of a long way from being as good as I want it to be.

High - Great wife, good health, decent income. We have raised 3 children. All have graduated from college and are productive members of society. Have 4 wonderful grandchildren. Plus it's a GREAT day to be alive!

High, based on the quality of life a woman of my social station and personal characteristics would have enjoyed five hundred years ago, one thousand years ago, five thousand years ago. Geography is no accident either. If I didn't live in the good ol' USA it would be significantly lower.

I tend to view happiness as a choice. Hope that doesn't offend you, not trying to be cheeky here. Hope you feel happy again soon.

Thanks.  I figure I'll only have to deal with it another 30-40 years, and then I'll get past it.

Dude, I supersize with you and everything, and I can really feel your struggles and pain, and I have them too; yet, I also know that you and I both will keep having them. However, to feel low while haiung shelter, clothes, food, and car, and central plumbing system, hot water, Internet? - your basic needs are m,ade to prosper right now. No, this is not low - most of the world is low. Feeling frustrated with life is natural, to expect time time to take care of it.....

My quality of life is medium. I often make it low yet those lows are lifted to highs at times. So, overall say it medium,,,I hope not to hold myself back to make it medium high.

Whatever dwellings come into life, they tend to stay.
Future is powerfully presented itself at ET5GMT
To find the time and forget the dwellings and continue
It will bring you to unknown so struggle stays.
