I noticed this about a year ago, but thought it was a temporary behavior, then entirely forgot about it. I just noticed it earlier today, though, when I created a new thread. If the subject line is "too long" (no idea how many chars "trips" the behavior), you can "Submit" it just fine....... unless you "Preview" it first. If you do that, part of the Subject line will be chopped off. Here is my thread and subject line: SCOTUS and gender discrimination (or, "Help! My favorite ConLaw book is still in storage!") Now that I think of it, the parens *could* have something to do with it, as well (though my first guess would still be char length). |

I think I've figured out a little more about this. I was trying to see if my thread in HoH (here) had seen any activity, so I clicked on My Topics. I was surprised to see that, instead of "Legendary pilot 'Earthquake McGoon' heads home," it was titled, simply: "Legendary pilot." It looks like the title ended where the quotes began. My other thread had parentheses. For whatever reason, the parser for the subject and body fields do not appear to be one and the same when using the preview feature, and I think this has something to do with the truncated titles I am seeing. |
