I fixed issues (I hope!) with the autologin portion of the site. There may be a problem with users who do not want to use the auto-login portion of code being set to use it if you were logged in when the code was updated. Simply go to your profile and save it with the autologin ability set to "off" Everyone who has had it on, should be all set, but if you experience problems, simply go and save your profile with it set to "on" Once you've done this, you should be all set. I also ensured that by logging out, all your login information is cleaned from a PC. (Leaves only user prefs like font size, etc) If there are any further problems, PLEASE let me know in this thread! I will tack it for a few days! [=)] |

Im still having a problem of being logged out if I take a link to the site from inside a thread (Like This) or inside the "New Post to Topic..." emails I receive. I am no longer being logged out when browsing the site through the navagation buttons. Using NS 6.2 on a WinNT 4.0 system. Let me know if you need to know anything else. Thanks, Jonathan |

Based on what you said, my problem is from going between (ar15.com) and (www.ar15.com). One will have me logged in, one wont. Unfortunately, ar15.com works faster for me and 98% of the links are for www.ar15.com... C'est la vie... Jonathan |

I am logged in on one window where I am looking at Active Topics. If I click on a thread to view it I am not logged in on that window. If I close that window and go back to the Active Topics window, I am still logged on. For instance, I had to log in to post this reply, but in the 1st window I am logged in. Bob |

Try clearing out any and all AR15 cookies. The problem I was seeing before involved multiple AR cookies being setup (dunno how that happens, but I am forcing it now...) and thus it would read from different ones at random. www.ar15.com & ar15.com are the two cookies which may be on your system... nuke them both! Try that and see how it works... |
|
Quoted: I deleted all of the cookies and that worked for a couple of days. Today has been really bad. Every time I leave the site I get logged out. I've also been getting logged out after hitting the submit button on a post. Any other suggestions GB? When did you remove the cookies? I suggest nuking them manually and would ask that you try again. If it was before my last post, it may not have done anything as the bug was there previous to that. |
|
Mine's working so far... [:)] I have a suggestion to those still having problems- if you're using Internet Explorer 5.5, you have to manually delete the cookies by going to Tools, Internet Options, Settings, View Files, then select all and delete. Otherwise, if you clear using the Delete Files commands on the Tools, Internet Options menu, the cookies aren't deleted. Good luck! |

Question: All the talk of dumping the cookies (or viewing them) has been about IE. How do I look at the cookies with Netscape 4.76? I still can't get my auto logon working at home. It works fine at my office, though. I shut all app's before I go home and no matter what I do at home, I never have to re-logon at work. It ALWAYS completes the auto logon. ps: My home machine was doing fine until about a week ago, when it stopped completing the auto logon. |
|
FIXED....at least for now. I went exploring and found the cookies.txt file in Netscape directory. Took a look and there they were...4 different AR15.com cookies. I read the sign post at the top of the file that said "DO NOT EDIT...GENERATED FILE", and edited out the cookies. Did the 'submit' thing, closed down and opened up again...Auto Login! |
|
Nope, cleared all my cookies a couple times and still no dice. Auto log is working on other sights though, just not here [:(], and here is where I spend most of my time [:D]! Edited to add..Am getting logged out quite often now, even while on the boards. If I spend too much time, say on a long thread, or typing a long post, I get booted. |

GoatBoy - As per your advice in another thread, I've installed a dual-boot setup of Win98 with Mozilla 1.2.1 and WinXP with MSIE 6.0 (no, I know you didn't mean install new O/S's, just a newer broswer!), and I thought I'd post here to tell you... ...I still have to login manually periodically... Sometimes my Username and Password are pre-loaded into the boxes, but I have to hit the "Login" button... Sometimes the boxes just say "Login Name"... ...And sometimes my Username and Password are already loaded and recognized... But you were right about my liking a newer browser better than my old Netscape 4.08 (Mozilla 1.2.1)...But I found out the hard way that the Java2 Run Time Environment is *required* for it to run anywhere half decently... |

Quoted: ...I still have to login manually periodically... Yeah more on this below... Sometimes my Username and Password are pre-loaded into the boxes, but I have to hit the "Login" button... Sometimes the boxes just say "Login Name"... ...And sometimes my Username and Password are already loaded and recognized... None of the boxes should ever contain anything more than "login name" in the login name box. This is a side-effect of your browser and not the site. [=)] But you were right about my liking a newer browser better than my old Netscape 4.08 (Mozilla 1.2.1)...But I found out the hard way that the Java2 Run Time Environment is *required* for it to run anywhere half decently... How old is that thing anyhow... [;)] Ok here's the deal everyone. Since this thing has been a royal PAIN IN THE ASS I am going to scrap the added security and revert back to something a little better than how it was before. |
