Played Saturday AM and carded an 86, still too many 3 putts and man my mid iron game is all over the place. Sunday played 9 and shot 41 still had some iron issues but at least there was only 1 3 putt. Went to the range after and worked on mid irons. Will see if it helps. Member guest is this weekend. |

Played 9 with my son, between sprinkles. After being down with the flu after a lot of work travel, I feel like I'm making some progress. Hitting clean shots, but just can't seem to capitalize. I did hit the green in 2 on the final hole, a 487 yard par 5. I think that's the first time I have done that. But it's a huge, two tier green complex, and I was probably 55 feet away from a back pin, so 3 putt it was. Oh well, a par is a par.

Played 1st day of member member today. Were in the 2nd to last flight but honestly I don’t feel bad after looking at the handicaps of the other flights. There are some good sticks. Mostly mid single digits and the top couple are +’s We went 6-3, 4-5, 6-3 We should done better in the 2nd match and I blame myself I missed 2 birdie and 1 par putt that would have halved or won the hole. On the last hole they had to make a 20 footer down hill across the break because I was 2 ft up hill for par. He drained it and also took the long putt for the 3 rounds on that hole. Congrats to them. Father son team and Dad was really good. We will see what tomorrow brings I think the 2 toughest matches are yet to come. |

Shot a 90 today. Not bad, not the best. But the good part was that I shot a 41 on the back 9. Started waking up after a very early morning. It makes me wonder wtf I was doing on the front 9. A buddy told me about the rule of 12 and I've been practicing that approach. It's really been an eye opener about the benefits of using various clubs for purposes other than I've conditioned myself to use them for. |

Played 9 after work yesterday. Shot a 46, so about average. But I didn't have any really terrible shots. Outside of one from the thick rough that only went 50 yards, I didn't have any chunks or tops. Also: Attached File |

Shot my lowest round on friday. 95. Joined a club and started playing more a couple months ago but I've been in the low 100s consistently. 2 birdies, 5 pars. Get rid of the 4 penalties and a couple double chips and I could've been in the 80s.  I've been making progress on the swing but it wasn't reflecting in the scores until now. |

The basics are similar, generating power through hip rotation, using the big muscles (legs) to leverage arm/shoulder movement. ETA: For that matter, I studied, competed in and taught martial arts for 20+ years and power generation there is exactly the same. There are definitely some similar concepts in both swings. The interplay with the ground is what's taking me a while. I'll be on the course again friday to see if that was real or not lol. I was also putting out of my mind. |

Played a KF pro-am yesterday. Started out in the rain. We shot 11 under and won’t sniff a win. Really nice pro. 35 years old. I could get used to putting on those greens. ETA scorecard playoff of 54 for 1-3rd |

Saturday I played with a bunch of family as the start of our annual weekend Cousin's Reunion. We played a scramble of two teams of 4. We crushed them, shooting 34 for 9 holes. Fortunately, they had some good players who were having a bad day (or too many beers). It won't affect my handicap but it was a ton of fun. |

 I have been trying to break my round into 3 hole stretches. My handicap is as low as it has ever been, and I try to be +1 or better every 3 holes. Missed it today. 3 putt par on #3. My tee shot on 9 disappeared into oblivion between two fairways. Not sure what happened there. 18 is a dogleg left, you can cut the corner but you really have to pipe your drive down the right side. Too far right and your layup can be blocked out by a big oak. Long story short I was in a bad spot for my layup, caught the tree and made a mess of the 3rd shot. Ended up with bogey. Game is trending in the right direction. I'm starting to feel like 80 is becoming the floor of my potential each round. Shot a 93 a few rounds ago, so the golf gods keeps me humble.

Played 9 last night with my step son, he’s getting a lot better. We didn’t keep score. He was a solid 100+ a couple years ago, I’d guess he’s a mid to low 90s with some dips into the 80s. He just isn’t long off the tee. He’s hitting it pretty strait but his average drive is probably around 200ish with a top end of 230’s. If he can get that to 230 all the time that’s 2-3 clubs less he’s hitting his approach. If he only would have taken me up on lessons when he was in middle school. But it’s great downtime and we had 2 hours to talk. Best part is his mother never gets mad when I play golf with him Subbed for a friends league Wednesday and shot 41. Just really having a hard time consistently getting that 2-3 shots better to consistently get under 80. Club championship starts tomorrow so excited for it even though I don’t feel on top of my game. The up side is the heat index is 107 so hopefully that will have an affect on my senior opponents

I've been trying all kinds of things to increase speed, be more consistent striking around the face and control my wrist. The "fuck me" moment was the first thing he talks about from this video, the left shoulder:  Unlock 20 More Yards with These 3 Simple Fixes! It's my only swing thought now, "turn." Somehow it corrected everything and does it at the top of the backswing; timing, wrist angle, path. Added 5mph+ to my ball speed, just turning my damn shoulders, lol. |

Between taking the family on a cruise and coming home to a week's worth of rain, finally got out after two and a half weeks break. Roller coaster round. Blasted my tee shot straight down the middle on hole 1, then recorded a triple bogey. Two birdies helped, a greenside chip in on a par 4 and a dart on a par 3. A good bit of luck helped me post an 87, so a good round for me. |

Well after round 1 I carded an 84. Very disappointed 78-79 was very getable. Sculled a very tight wedge into death over the green then did the same thing next hole because it was 8 inches below my feet standing outside a bunker. Triple-double. Also had 4 shots 6-15 feet for birdie and missed them all. So I am middle of the senior pack and coleader of the 4th flight. Senior leader is a former state am winner and plays a lot of tournament golf. He was in my group. Tomorrow is another day! |

Carded an 84 again in the second round. Ended middle of the pack from the seniors. Winner shot 75’s both days to win by 2 Club champ is a high school senior. 68-70 I believe to win by a few. Did get 2nd in my flight and 3rd net

I played yesterday for the 3rd time in 2 years. I hit 12 of 14 fairways and all 4 of the par 3s. I just can't figure out the irons from the fairway. 9x out of 10 I'm chuncking em. I've been playing golf since I was about 7 (I'm 66) I know the game very well. I just can't figure out the irons. Its frustrating to hit the ball down the middle and chunck a short iron. If I don’t chunck it then its out on the toe. I'm thinking I'll try closing the face a little and moving the ball back in my stance. |

Played yesterday after not playing a round for a few weeks. Shot another 95(my lowest). No birdies and only 2 pars, but completely avoided meltdown holes. ZERO triples. I had 3 triples on my last 95 round. Only missed 2 fairways. Only 2 penalties and neither were off the tee. Sort of baffled by my driver distance. I used to hit 250, but with all my swing changes it's been consistently about 220. I've been taking lessons but we've mostly been working with irons. I must be putting a ton of spin or something. |

Had a 7am early tee time yesterday with my buddy. Hadn't swung in 3 weeks as I've been out on vacation and other stuff. Ended up shooting a not so great 86 at a wonderful mountain course. Had a birdie free round but not an eagle free round! Eagled the last Par 5 with a good drive that caught the slope and left me only 165 in and put my iron shot about 8 feet out for a pretty straight forward putt that went in. Fun round and I wasn't even mad I played poorly overall. We got 18 holes done in 3:30 and had a good time. |

Well, practice doesn't make perfect... Headed to the trackman to try and get my driver swing more consistent after 3 weeks of no golf before our men's league. Things felt good at the trackman, drives were going well. 90 minutes later on the course, that drive was nowhere to be found. Shot another very poor 49 on 9 holes which was the worst score posted this season for me. Funny enough my irons, wedges, and everything else was actually right on handicap for strokes gained/lost but my drive was a -7.9 alone. Yeah, it was rough but that's golf. I'll probably go and shoot 79 this weekend or something weird. Still fun. Had a good time rooting on my buddy who was playing really well and played to his handicap on a fairly windy day so bonus points there. |

Walked a quick 9 (literally, an hour and twenty minutes) before the hurricanes come in. Shot a 44, so right at my handicap. Hit six fairways, and 4 greens. Tap in birdie on stroke hole 1, though. Feels good, man. |

60 today. Wasn’t my score but the temp. But did play 18 with my step son and a couple friends. 90 and considering no warm up ( no range at this course). Greens hadn’t been mowed for a while so it took a while to realize you had to hammer putts. Unfortunately we are stuck in 4 nice days during the week and cold and rain on the weekends. Looks to be same again this coming week. |

I played my first round of the season on Wednesday. I didn't suck as badly as I thought I would, not having played since this past October. I was also in the dregs of a week-long cold so my stamina wasn't up to snuff. Shot an 88. I could easily have scored lower if not for blowing up on holes 10 and 11. It was just so damned nice to be back out on a golf course. Winters are looooong. |

So I was bored and built a men's league/golf league cheating tracker for my local men's league. Essentially it just ingests all of the published scores and compares the probability of those rounds happening compared to your handicap and tracks all winnings potentially paid out on illegitimate scores. Orange round are rounds with lower than 1:258 probability of happening for a given handicap and red is lower than 1:1000. The most egregious rounds so far is a 34 handicap shooting an 80 which was something like 1 in 14,500 odds of happening from the white tees. It was nice to see that about 99% of players have perfectly reasonable scores and have the occasional phenomenal round that is perfectly within reach of their handicap and capabilities. And then there are about 10-15 guys in our league who consistently post obnoxious scores when they play with their friends week over week creating artificially low handicaps and then always shoot about 10 strokes over their handicap when its tournament time and you're paired up with random people to prevent cheating. This is for this year's scores so far after 2 weeks. I'll let it run for 4-5 weeks to start to normalize the data and I'll show it to the head pro or maybe print out a QR code and staple it to the bulletin board Attached File |

So I'm someone who off the fairway has always hit my woods lower than I'd like. A bit low spin and they roll out a lot. Played today in quite windy conditions with 20+mph gusts and I was hitting my woods higher than ever Could've broke 40 on the front but a really nasty straight left to right crosswind was just pushing any tee shot so far right and the fairway slopes into the water. Ended up with a triple to round it off after a great 8 holes previously. |

I threw my back out last week so I missed Wednesday golf. But I've got my fingers crossed and am going to play today. Loading up on NSAIDs prior... AAR: With a pretty stiff lower back I think I did okay today. Plus, the greens were all f'ed up from aeration and sanding, plus we had to play the front 9 twice as they were working on the back 9 greens today. So, having provided all of my excuses... First 9 I shot a 48. It took me a while to warm up and stop pushing everything left. Short game and putting were okay. Second 9 shot a 42. Back muscles felt more relaxed and not so tight. |
