I know that I'm opening myself up to ten million "Has anyone seen BakerMike post lately?" jibes, but I heard about this concept on an episode of the Giant Bombcast recently:
If you do not know, "Hell banning" is a special kind of ban that allows a person to continue interacting with a site, and everything appears normal to them-- but nobody can see what they post. It's basically like forcing everyone on the whole site to ignore the person, except that they can't even tell that they're set to ignore. I think that it would work well as a countermeasure to recurring trolls and other retreads, at least insofar as it will take them longer to realize that they have been banned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellbanning "[He] will have the fate of a stone dropped in water ... he will simply disappear." - Genghis Khan |

I'd be fine with it. I also want people on my ignore list to not be able to post in threads I start. A block feature in comparison to the ignore feature, I like it. Basically like on Facebook where you unsubscribe to a friend, none of their stuff shows up and if you block a person they can't find you in a search. I like it. |
