It would be have an indicator in the contacts list in the IM page that shows whether or not the contacts are online instead of having to find threads they've posted in/search for their name on the community/statistics page.

It would also be nice to have a button that would show new topics created by whichever contacts we choose

Contacts are simply quick clicks for messages.

What you are looking for is the upcoming Friends list...

While I'm on the subject of IMs, any way you could make "save copy in sent folder" a default option?
