You CAN NOT stop an airborne respiratory virus and locking people into homes and shutting down was a huge "mistake" aimed squarely at ushering in vote-by-mail. So yeah, I early on bet on a higher death toll and an illness who's negatives were more than just death. Turns out the death toll was way less and much more lopsided on the age chart than early information indicated but I still believe I'm right about it being more than 'just the flu'. The vaccine, well... I've told my story there too. Watching the scumbags in American government turn that into a political persecution opened my eyes wide open. There is nothing, no portion of government or agency at all that exists with any ethos beyond "serve the party". There are no institutions that have any backbone either. Seeing people I personally know supposedly dedicated to science turn into fanatical lying cheerleaders was disturbing. Didn't used to believe that was really possible, but after the last 3 years. I'm a convert. I’m right there with you. The early novel status, lack of data, and family with comorbidities had me concerned. As time elapsed, the age banded data and push for squelching possible treatments had me ready to exit the train. The push for mandates had me jumping through the doors off the train. Now we have statistical evidence the cure is worse than the disease for certain people and that is infuriating. |

A pandemic was announced, along with some initial studies that suggested a 4% infection to death rate. Rightfully people were very alarmed about that. "Two weeks to flatten the curve" By day 15, it was pretty obvious they had no clue. A few months in, they had to invent and push testing, because so many people had it, and had no idea. Sounds super scary.  By June 2020, we knew the infection to death rate was closer to .04% But the medical assholes loved the power, money and attention. The media as shoes and politicians saw their chance to grab power and get rid of Trump. And he fell for it. So did the vast majority of people, who are sheep. They were obviously lying about the death count. Then publicizing it on every news outlet at every possible opportunity. Then magically in February of 2021, that stopped. The fact that more people died of Covid after the elections, and after the release of the vaccine, is apparently irrelevant.  We are just a society of scared weaklings. |

We had that conversation in mid-March 2020. They moved back to Texas in June 2021 and we moved to Florida in July 2022. |
