Nova Rossi and Nova Mega engines were insanely powerful but incredibly picky. When Sirio engines came out mid 2000s they were a game changer. They held their tune very well. Traxxas, OS, and Dynamite engines were all middle of the road. GS Racing, which was a bit of a sleeper company in my mind, had probably the easiest to tune engine of them all. I ran gallons of fuel through my Storm and never touched the needle after the initial tune. It also was obnoxiously loud. Hearing that thing scream at 30k+ RPMs with the Doppler effect of it flying by at 50mph (fast back then), no electric can match that. It's pure nostalgia just thinking about it. The smell of nitro on those summer mornings all those years ago is something I'll never forget. Ah, my GS Storm. I miss it. Honestly my favorite RC Car I've ever owned. Nothing comes close. Even my 8s Kraton isn't as fun as that thing was. The sound/smell added so much to the experience. Attached File You should get one.  |

Nitro to me is more fun, more to tinker with. The tinkering part is the best part of rc to me. Been into this stuff for close to 50 years now. I like my electric cars and trucks, have a bunch of them. Still have my original Grasshopper. I have 4 1/5th scale 2 stroke cars. Love these cars. Baja 5b buggies are the best. I have 4 nitro trucks right now. My old 2.5 T-Maxx and a new 3.3 T-Maxx. Also have 2 Revo 3.3 trucks. Love these Revo trucks. This is my 2nd HPI kit. Always wanted a Savage XL and when I saw it as a kit I couldn't resist. Nitro is not hard. |

Nitro sounds rad but they really can't match the performance and simplicity of electrics, especially in racing which is becoming more of what I'm getting into. I'm also cursed with having little patience which doesn't help. Its a pain in the ass enough with ESC tuning, chassis setup and gear ratios, shocks etc. At least for me anyways. Sometimes I just want the fuckin thing to go outta the box 😆 🤣 But yeah its a cool little niche either way. I know a few guys that fly Nitro Helis and I'm like, you fools really are crazy 🤣 talk about the worst of both worlds trying to setup something to work just right. |

Nostalgia. Now I’m not into the loud, 30,000 RPM stuff. I’m a four cycle guy. All my larger engines I’ve converted over to spark ignition so I can get a smoother running, easier to start, burn less fuel and since I’ll be mixing my own fuel, I can run zero nitro and ignition will burn 1/3 the fuel than a glow plug. As crazy as it sounds, I’m saving my “allowance” to buy a Saito FG-73 R5. It’s a $2400 - 5 cylinder radial engine. Unfortunately, it runs off a gas and oil mix. But I’ll live. |

Phoenix Models 20cc FHU Corsair. It will be powered by a 35cc engine with electric start hopefully if all will fit. I haven’t gotten that far. If not a 26cc engine out of a crashed Decathlon with smoke system will go in since these are way underpowered with 20cc. All I have managed to accomplish so far is epoxying the control surfaces on both wings but soon I will get to work in earnest on it. Been playing with my old HO trains trying to get everything working properly on them again before boxing all that stuff away again.Attached File Attached File |

With Horizion I also get hit with sales tax. Now if I’m really lucky, by the time I have my savings there a good used one will pop up online. |

Built a new plinth for my old Turntable that was damaged in a tornado six years ago. Solid walnut to replace the particle board & oak veneer. I replaced the masonite bottom with 1/2" plywood too. Attached File Attached File |

Made a couple "smash boxes" its like a piggy bank and maybe a custom trophy? I was given colors and yayay...so I made these..  Then she's like wtf!!! I said its the colors you wanted.... I have a Phoenix Models Corsair that's been sitting for several months and the only thing I've managed to do is epoxy the flap and aileron hinges in place. I've lost interest in building anymore planes as of late. I did just acquire a couple of planes from the estate of one of our amazing pilot both real commercial and master scale builder an national award winner for over 55 years in this hobby. All scratch built massive warbirds. I could bever bring myself to fly something he sometimes spent two years building but did buy a couple of his foamies. One of which I already own one of being a two 80mm A-10 warthog so his is a spare for when I undoubtedly destroy the one I already own. Just finishing up the last of the covering job. I still have lots of balsa put away, and had the plans from my long crashed Wander kit. Took just under 2 weeks of free time at night to get it cut, and assembled. I will dig through my boxes of parts, and find a suitable .10-.15 glo engine. Should be ready to fly by the time the weather turns decent. Attached File Attached File |

I will be able to repair it, but just felt like building a new one. Right now I am building a WillyNellies 250 Gentle Lady sail plane. I do miss the days of going to a local hobby shop for balsa, kits, and monokote. I have been building, and flying since I was 12, my first 1/4 scale build was a Sig Morrisey Bravo with A Qadra35, and that was before I got a drivers license As long as I have a hoard of monokote, a stack of balsa, and some un-built kits... I will keep flying stick builds. Not that I mind people flying foam.. To each their own |

Just finished this up. My first military vehicle model. I usually do warhammer type stuff, but I like to oddball stuff every now and then for variety. It's a revell kit made on tooling from 1964. Crazy that they are still cranking them out all these years later. A repaired Freewing 90mm F-22 I just put the finishing touches on. About 3 weeks ago I managed to destroy 3 planes in one day. The first was while buddy boxing an Aeroscout teaching my oldest grandson to fly. Replaced. The second was an OMP turbo Bushmaster I put into a flat spin and failed to recover in time. It’s out of stock and I likely won’t replace it anyway. The 3rd was my F-22 I put into a stall near the end of the flight and using a brand new battery I had but had not used for probably 2 years, lacked the reserve capacity to get the plane back up to flying speed at the wrong moment. Needed a new fuselage that of course was out of stock. Turned out another member had never been able to successfully fly his F-22 and sold me both the crashed plane as well as a new fuselage he still had in the box for $200. Been doing a little at a time over the past week and finally have it ready to re-maiden whenever I decide to fly it again. It was an expensive day! Attached File |
