I really like shaving creams more than soaps. My go-to cream is the Proraso Green. What is your favorite? http://sharpologist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/IMG_18641.jpg What are you paying for it? Proraso markets the same cream under the name C. E. Bigelow at Bath and Body Works, and it can be had for cheaper if you catch one of their buy 2 get one free sales. B&BW - Premuim Shave Cream Matt |

I don't mind Proraso's white or red tube but something in the green tube irritates the shit out of me. Look like I've got a sunburn if I try it. Of course I found this out after a Christmas where I acquired not one but THREE tubes of the shit. Luckily the wife likes it. Arko soap FTW though, a bargain at twice the price and a performance contender vs. whatever fancy shit you got. Sure, pay more so you don't have to smell like a man. I won't mind. |

I think it's the eucalyptus and I'm allergic. |

I rotate between a handful of them. I like TOBS Almond, and currently have a tub of the Saint James, which is not bad. I think I'll try their Eton College or Jermyn Street next, based on positive reviews here.
I like Proraso/ Bigelow / Omega, all made by Proraso, and pretty similar. I also love RazoRock Classic, and the Fresco. I think the RazoRock Classic is probably my favorite- it's fragrance is marzipan- similar to TOBS Almond.

Works fine, very nicely in fact, but the smell is kind of plain to me. Inoffensive but hardly inspiring. |

I prefer soaps now (Mitchell's Wool Fat FTW,) but back when I was using creams I really liked Taylor of Old Bond Street. Their SandleWood and Lime were my favorites but I get a superior lather from a good soap but it does require more 'work.'
I've tried to like Proraso coming back to it a few times but I never cared for the over the top scents and very chemical at that. Also the quality of the lather wasn't as good as Taylor but if it works for you then great. |

Cremo Cream is my current go-to. Available at Walmart, of all places (as well as other local drug stores)...

I only use Al's Shaving creams. I haven't found anything else that I like anywhere near as much. I like the aftershave balms as well.
Goodfellas is probably my favorite scent, and I get the matching balm. http://alsshaving.com |

I've been using Van der Hagen soap and a badger brush with my Harry's razor for a year or so.
Ran out of soap and decided to try something different, so I bought a tube of Cremo Shave Cream. Closest and smoothest shave I've ever had. I use just a tiny bit, like the instructions ("almond size amount") and it's enough for a 3-pass shave, so the 6-ounce tube should last a long, long time. |

I liked Cella before I moved but my water is different and it won't lather much here.
I've been using up my buying bing of soaps and creams. Arko limon, Charlotte vostok (menthol), some rebadged gift shop catalog (Massey Caswell) stuff I got for Christmas last year, just about gone now. Lathers well. What I have learned is I hate fake chemical imitation scents; like badly done rose, lime or citrus scents. VanDerHagen actually works, is dirt cheap and available in walmart and half the drug stores. |

Arko is pretty fake with it's lemon scent but jeez, VDH just smells like chemicals to me. If you want to change the scent up some, I strongly believe that the Col. Conk soaps are the same formula as VDH, just with more variety. Their lime smells like cheap green lollipops. I found it interesting, my wife found it revolting, you probably wouldn't like that either. Conk's bay rum isn't atrocious though. |
