All -

Making the transition to DE shaving. I've always had good results with little carnage as a cartridge shaver so I'm interested to really see the difference.

Here's my issue/question -

I am not good at fragrance stacking. I have an aftershave balm and cologne I like now. My concern is that most soaps used with the brush and bowl are scented in some way. I don't want to combine the two and end up with a smell that's like walking into the counter at Macy's. Competing odors that just don't work together.

I would prefer an unscented shave. Talking with others - even things labeled as "unscented" have some to them - just not as much as normal.

So I'm here to ask - do you have a soap/cream that is working for you that's also really unscented?

I cannot think of one that is truly "unscented", as they all have some smell.
There are however a number of products that have minimal scent, that wouldn't interfere with with aftershave and cologne.

The first one that comes to mind is Mitchells Wool Fat (MWF). But that one is sort of hard to work with for someone new to brush and bowl lathering.

I would look at:

Edwin Jagger Aloe Shave Cream. The soap is mediocre IMHO. The cream is excellent
Haslinger Aloe (my favorite)
Proraso Blue - Aloe & Vitamin E
Valobra unscented hard shave soap.
AoS Unscented Cream
Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort
Nivea for Men Raizercreme from Germany (in a tube) is also excellent

I like Kell's also. The unscented has a faint smell if you sniff the cake of soap but I can't detect any lingering smell after shaving.  He has three different formulas regular, Aloe and Ultra Aloe. I'd recommend starting with the Intro Pack. It has samples of all three formulas in your choice of scents or unscented.

Actually the intro pack is just unscented. If you're an arfcommer let me know and I'll put a scented intro pack together.

The unscented has a very faint nutty smell to it. That's the hemp oil itself. My wife never smells anything on my face when I use unscented. YMMV

Depending on your choice of aftershave/cologne, you may be able to get a shave soap in that scent. Stirling has some nice knock-off scents, and his shave soaps are very nice.

Been using Poraso sandalwood scented soap and Grey Flannel aftershave.

Got lucky combining the scents. I get a lot of wimmenz telling my how great I smell.
