Much lighter, excellent quality. I didn't, but, if you use them, the end links will require some shaping. I've been very pleased. And, shipping is amazingly fast. |

Thanks! It was my daily driver for years, but I’m giving some love to a few other pieces now. It’s a Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50.00 in 42 mm. I bought it new in 2011 from an AD on the stainless band. It’s an ETA movement. Omega still offers a version with their proprietary materials and in house movement, but it’s spendy. The strap is this one: Clockwork Synergy NATO I’ve bought quite a few of their NATO straps. I’ll cycle through them in the summer. The watch looks great on solid black, desert tan, the black and grey on in the picture (my favorite), grey and even orange. The company offers several varieties of NATO straps. This one is a standard type. I also have some in heavy duty and one or two British style. I couldn’t justify the money for an official Omega NATO when they came out with them. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the company and their service. |

I also happened to get this for a STEAL in today's market so my milsub project moved forward: - remove cyclops - 16610LV maxi hands - satin finish on all polished surfaces - bracelet stretch repaired by Rolliworks I got a deal on this thing and decided to make a project out of it. A Rolex Sub that will be toned down to that tool watch realm vs a dress diver. Shit, they have the reputation today due to their professional designs of yesteryear. Sure no one seriously dives with one as they have computers and/or GShock. Why bang up a $8k+ piece for no reason. Again, got this at a steal. It had been polished by it's previous owner and killed the camfers so I used my Bergeon wheels to give it a nice satin but not brushed tone - makes it look like a ubiquitous dive watch So to your question, "but why?" - I ask, why not? |

My eyes are terrible and I wouldn't be able to see the date without the cyclops. I still wouldn't want it.

If I would of affected value negatively and it would cost me capital in the long run - wouldn't of done it. Let's see: - new 16610 OEM crystal: $180 - (optional) new OEM bezel insert: $100 - Case refinish/restore bevel, etc..: $500 Don't think this wasn't all thought through before I began. Also I'm the type that doesn't leave stock well alone, if I can't have fun with it why own it? |

Anybody have a link to a Seiko repair/refurbish specialty shop?
I have a Sport 150 chrono/alarm that needs the crystal replaced. I, too, favor the dive watch look. There are some fine examples in this thread! Never mind...I just found the Seiko repair thread. |

My kids will inherit a Rolex Sub, Seiko 6309, Seiko 6105, and Arnie that have been on target with TIC objectives and not in pristine condition. They can be kept as is or serviced/refurbished. So can his. Not my money, not my watch. Yes, if he did a bubba beyond repair on a rare, classic watch, car, or fun I would feel a pang or loss, but still not mine. |
