You may recall from this thread that my 5 was running about 10 minutes/week fast.  Well, I finally broke down and bought a caseback wrench, watched me a Youtube video, and attempted my hand at regulating it.  Used my hand lens and a paperclip!

After 24 hours, it's now running about 17 seconds fast.  I'll keep an eye on things, but I may have solved my problem!

It might need a clean and oil. How old?

ETA ha, read the old thread. Probably not worth the expense. Cool that you got it running close. You can get a free smart phone app to check your watch.

I remember the old thread. OP doesn't care about worn pivots. But it's a 7S26 movement and you can buy new movements for around $40 bucks.

Also, considering the mainspring lube Seiko uses (It's crap) and the watches age (the crappy mainspring lube is dried to dust), his ability to keep time is going to vary greatly on how wound up the mainspring is.

My first Seiko ran 41 years without any maintenance other than opening up the case to empty and dry out water and to tighten the screw that held on the rotor.  I now have more than twenty Seiko powered watches.
