They've changed to 'The Reaper' on/along '03 or so. The Reaper signs have become the universal Cave warning, when I was in MX they were sporting the Reaper but back in '01/'02 it was the older style....

Doing my deep diver class:

Making some final buoyancy adjustments at 25 feet before beginning my descent - still trying to perfect it using doubles as I've only dove in them a few times so far. The initial adjustment always takes me a minute or two, but on-the-fly is easy.Right about the time I got my trim and weighting PERFECT in my old BC with a single tank, I sold it and got a BP/W and twin 100's.

Checking out the cavern walls and ceiling at around 55-60 feet.

At the bottom, around 100 feet. Max depth that day was 103 feet.

All taken at Blue Grotto in Williston, FL. We were the only ones there that day (it was a Monday) except for a couple that did their last dive as we were gearing up for our first. It was awesome.

Finished PADI OW last September and immediately 8 dives in like two months.  I'm hooked.  Going to finish PADI AOW this summer, maybe do PADI Rescue Diver as well.

Here's a snap from one of my first dives in Panama City Beach after OW.  This is one of the two F101 Voodoo fighterplanes that were sunk off PCB.

Second: Time for me to be an asshole : your dive buddy's dangles are killing me, man.  Get her to clip off that SPG!

Bad habit, yes. But it was hanging loose for a reason, so her instructor and I could peek at it.

Turns out, being as tiny as she is she can use one of the smaller scuba tanks, what is it a AL63? and run neck and neck with me on an AL80, consumption wise. I'm pretty good on air. I'm not sure she even breathes

Not so much posing as me just following it very close and taking as many pictures as I could while it tried to get away.
I don't see as many as I would like. They're without a doubt my favorite critter to see while diving.
We saw three that day (2 that were probably in the middle of mating before we oc-blocked them).
That was the first time I had seen any in a few months though.

We have 1-2 resident lionfish here. They must be same sex because they're not procreating and becoming an invasive species like other places.

Lionfish are not an invasive species in the mid to western Pacific. They exist there naturally.

I eyeballed those T-shirts at Cave Country and I never got the impression that they'd offer a lot of thermal protection.

I've always enjoyed swimming in the springs in a bathing suit, and even when I first started diving a couple years ago I would only wear swim trunks and a tank top when I dove in the Rainbow River. By the time I got done setting my gear up at Ginnie that day, the heat and the bugs (flies were fucking horrible near the pavilions) were so bad I just loaded up and dove in to get away from them both. It felt great for the first 15-20 minutes, but then I swam into the run and stood up talking to my family for a few minutes, which dried me off for the most part... going back under after that kinda sucked.
