Had a Nautilus Mini for a few weeks now and it tasted great.  About a week and a half in it tasted burnt so I changed to the new coil. That lasted a week or so before it tasted burnt and so I tried the two replacement coils that I had bought.  Both taste acrid and metallic.  Are these coils just hit or miss?

I swear with the packaged ones tasted amazing out of the box.

All coils have been 1.8ohms

Could be defective or cloned coils even. Also are you vaping a different juice or device at a higher wattage than before. Some juices will kill coils faster than others.

I have a regular Nautilus that I hadn't used in awhile.  When I first used it, it was hands down the best non-Kayfun style tank I had ever used.

Went to fire it up after having not used it in a long time, and it kept burning wicks after a short period of time.  I tore it down, and see a shitload of rust inside the 510 connection of the base.  Cleaned it out the best I could, let it dry.  Rebuilt it, and it did it again.  I'm at a loss.  Not sure what's up with it.  It did the same thing with a factory Nautilus head, and with a cotton/micro-coil rebuild.

I have had the same experience with the full size nautilus.

She was a beast straight off the street. Changed her underwear after a few bad tastes, and now shes a dead fuck all of a sudden.

Idk, bitches be like that sometimes.

Juice is PuffinE-Juice: Sour Dough Cinnamon 50/50 PG/VG 6mg Nic.  When I first got it, it tasted like Cinnabon, now not so much.  Maybe I've tired of it.

I also switched to a Itaste. MVP 2.0 from my vision spinner II. (I wanted something that would last me all weekend and charge my phone while I was at PAX.). It tasted great at 4.2v.  Pretty close to where I ran my spinner. But maybe it runs hotter? I really don't have a great understanding of electronics.

I pulled apart two of the coils and actually figured out how to "sorta" rebuild one.  This is the bottom vertical coils.  I don't know much about how the element is supposed to be put together, but I found that they have leads soldered to the coiled element instead of using that wire all the way through.  Wicking material on both were gross and burned, even the one I only tried for a really short time. I swear the replacement coils used a thinner wire. I let it sit for about 5min so it could wick properly.  Maybe they need way more time than this?

Do some of these coils use bad wire for the element?

I've been considering using the bottom dual coil that is normally for the regular nautilus.

Nothing seems rusty on mine.

I haven't come across a bad BVC yet, the older style BDC's I had a few problems with leaks and sometimes them being DOA out of the package.

Heres a video on how to rebuild the BVC's  link

There was a run of bad BDC's recently, I had some bad ones myself. Heard tons of the same story around here at least

Cinnamon flavors can goop up coils quick. If you're running you MVP at the same wattage that probably isn't the issue. Bad wire is not likely the culprit either. A shitty coil build full of hotspots can be though. Some of the cheaper coil heads don't have the best build quality.

Thanks a lot for all the info.  The rebuild link is pretty awesome.  He mentions that the heating of the coil with the torch removes hotspots, so doesn't that show that the wire can be done incorrectly?

I bought some new coils for me and my GF and we are now vaping a lemonade peach flavor that doesn't exhibit that burnt metallic taste. Not sure if it's the combo, but it seems a lot better.

Most of my vaping of the cinnamon flavor juice was with the vision spinner, maybe that it actually runs at a lower voltage than what the setting shows?  I know running at 3.6 on the MVP made for great flavor but very little vapor production.

Can I run a kayfun on an MVP 2.0?  It seems like most mods need way more wattage from what I've been told at my local vape shop.

I went through a coil a week on mine. I used mainly a cinnamon toast crunch juice on my vtr at around 12 watts

Glad it's not just me, I've been going through a coil a week too.  I may give rebuilding a try.

Thanks
