So I bought a new set of wahl trimmers Link that I use to cut my hair once a month with. Usually 1/4" buzz cut.
What I am noticing is it seems to power down while cutting and if I try and go to fast it will pull my hair. It also seems to miss hair here and there. I end up having to go over my head multiple times before I get everything. I oil them each time and keep them clean. I also have tried cutting my hair wet and dry with the same results. I returned a cheaper pair of wahl trimmers due to the same thing just worse. Thoughts? |

I bought a older model Wahl at the flea market w all of the attach for $5 in a nice carry bag..
I will admit to slight balding/thinning hair on top but even on the thick hair on the sides I have never bogged it down.. I have been using it every 2 weeks for several years now and never oiled it...Works great Cant believe I paid $20 for haircuts for so many years |

It took awhile, but I took apart the clippers completely and found there was hair all the way up into the spring-arm and the electromagnet. I am balding and have been just clipping to 1/8", similar to how OP buzzes his head and the short little cut hairs can work their way up in there.
Also, have you removed the lower toothed blade, cleaning underneath it and then oiling? It could be the oil isn't getting in if you just drip it in from the edges, and where the two sets of teeth glide on each other it could be galling, or it's smoothed itself out to a mirror finish and it's so smooth oil isn't getting in there and it's getting hot and slowing down. |

Oster Professional Classic 76 Clippers......your welcome. Bought mmine with 00000, 0000, 0A, 1, 1A and 2 blade and never looked back last year. With a case and blade holder I spent just under $300. Considering I was paying about $450 for haircuts year, plus my time waiting, the price was worth it. A dab of oil into the side port and it runs perfectly and its used very two weeks. Plus the blades are METAL, not plastic. They come sharp and stay sharp. A little cool lube on the each time and brush them clean and they are still going strong. Consumer models are designed for consumers- with lower speed and quality parts. |
