Hello All. This past Saturday, I was raised along with about 180 other Brothers at a special class/ceremony of our state Grand Lodge.
The WM of our lodge was my Mentor through the process. I feel almost like I have cheated in a way to be raised so quickly and have asked to have all degrees done again at the local level. The WM seemed excited that I wanted to do this. I know I have LOTS to learn and look forward to receiving more insight We have the official presentation ceremony on the 20th at our formal lodge meeting. There I will get more instruction as to what I just went through this weekend. One thing that struck me is how misrepresented the Masons are in the media with 'America's book of Secrets' and other shows on TV. That and with some evangelical churches. I saw nothing cultish & was surprised at how much was taken from the bible. Of course being a public forum, I can't go into detail If anyone is thinking of this path, do yourself a favour & don't believe the tinfoil hat stuff. |

I am friends with the WM and a Past Master. I have been keeping their books for several years. I was always curious
about the craft, but never wanted to ask too many questions. That coupled with being brought up my whole life being told the typical 'cult/satan-worship' stories from those in my church. Well I finally got the nerve to ask. My petition was accepted about 3 months back. I have read up on some literature at the lodge, as well as gone over the 3 large training binders with the Edu-Officer. Then about a month ago the WM told me about this one day deal that they were putting on at the SR temple. So I went for it. Not sorry I did, but again I want the real experience and go through each degree at the local lodge. |

Quoted: Congrats! 180 is a DAY? Wow. I can't imagine how that could be done and also effectively impart the experience of the degree in an meaningful manner. They are all done at the same time. There will be 1 active participant chosen for each degree. Everyone else just watches. Our district does this once a year and I was chosen 2 years ago to be the JMC during the 3rd. It is a whole day event with lunch and breaks between degrees to educate the candidates as much as time permits.... later in the month, the candidates are given further instruction at their individual lodges. The men get their degrees all in the same day, but they still spend quite a bit of time afterwards learning the work. I have met and our lodge has many fine officers who went through the 1 day class. |
