Many of you, I'm sure, have read the Zombie Survival guide.
I know some of you already own silencers for your weapons (and cudos to you, I just cant afford it). How many of you own a silencer, ready for zday? How many of you have thought about using a crossbow or bow and arrow a la Brooks? Its not a bad idea in theory, to use a 'stringed weapon as a silent means to dispatch one zombie at a time (especially in a bug in scenario). I think the application falls short when you deal with more than one zed at a time, depending on your expertise. So, do any of you (esp. bow hunters) plan on going this route? Is this a viable option or simply a hair brained idea? (and PS, I know all of us wont give a Hoot about class 3 laws come zday, but I will say if you dont have the prep now, you wont ever) |

An accurate, reliable suppressed rifle would be ideal,IMHO.You could kill z's from a distance, with little noise signature. It definitely gives you more tactical options.
Personally, I would go with a piston operated weapon; LWRCI, XCR, or (since this is wishful thinking) Bushmaster ACR.From what I've seen, DI AR's tend to get a lot of carbon build up,but I've heard some suppressors minimize this, especially the Surefire can. This set-up would be my ideal perimeter defense weapon.About the only downsides I can see are cost and paperwork. |
| i am a experienced archer and if you are in a roost or have time for a accurate shot that fine but in a bug-out scenario you would be SOL cause were there is one, there are many in a Z-day scenario. range is limited too so that is another draw back. and as far a arrow or bolt shafts being expensive yes they are but they are suppose to be re used if you can retrieve it that is lol, but arrows are as easy to come by as 22 ammo hell even walmart has arrows and archery equipement. just my .02 cents |
| I used to be good with a bow, but it has been a while. You lose the kinetic energy that you have with a bullet that is pretty important. An arrow shot would have to be dead on into the brain or spinal cord. With a bullet you can be off target a little and still cause enough damage to incapacitate due to the bullet expanding and dumping its kinetic energy into the brain. |

A bow is accurate to about 40 yards top. 50-60 if you practice those shots ALOT. But the energy they have that far out is dropping pretty quick. As was said earlier, with an arrow, you have to be spot on to take down Zack.
In my neighborhood, Zack is going down with 55 grains of 5.56 to the brain as far out as possible. |
. This is under the context of silenced bug in defensive means of dispatching zed.
