What would be the best target to simulate a zombie noggin?  Coconut, cynderblock, small box made out of 1x6 fence pickets, ect.....

I would like something that has the same breaking point as a skull.

First it would be better for practice at 100yrds or longer and second to see how much penration a .22lr can get.

Uhhhhhhhh not going to touch that one.  Surely someone out here has thought the same.  I could wrap a Cantilope with a dozen layers of duct tape, but that wouldn't simulate the shattering.

Watermelon is way to easy.  Besides that's the Gunny's thing!

Kicking it around, I guess I could use metal coffee cans filled with homemade dough.

local butchers shop, ask for skulls. dunno about the skulls but i know that the mythbusters as well as other folks attempting to prove something via a "scientific" proces very oftern use swine as a human analog as their physiology(namely the flesh) is similar in many aspects to that of humans...

I like the coconut idea the best. A good simulation. Cheap, and tasty afterwards. They might also explode with the right bullet. They're a little small, but at a 100 yds. they'll be good practice for irons.

Send pics.

Watermelons are expensive here, about 7 dollars after tax. I need to grow some and have some real fun.
