I disagree completely.

In 'close quarters' you really don't have the room to swing the sword properly AND you'll quickly tire with many zombies to deal with.

Swing, no. But stab at the head through the grate, and you'll get dozens. A Roman Gladius, with it's short length and pointy tip would work well.  It is a short made expressly to stab deep without much space to work with.

It really is sad that these people don't have a closet full of zombie gear like we all do...but then again I guess if they took the world back they wouldn't have much time for any more seasons of the show.......

So I got around to seeing it last night...

That was one hell of a cliffhanger.

I'm not sure what the best way to get out of that would be. Supressed handguns would probably be their best bet.

The Stag Horn scales I found while hiking and they're epoxied on with gorilla glue and pinned with aluminum hollow round stock. I do all my blades, machetes and axes with an angle grinder by hand. I don't really like the ultra crisp look I get when I use a belt sander, too pretty. I just want my home builds to be strong, sharp and take a beating.

Taking notes for a future build. Looks very robust.  What type of wood did you use on the Kukri type blade? Where do you find that type of steel?

I used Ipe for the scales on the kukri. It's a South American hard wood that's hard to work with, dulls steel tools fast but very durable. If you want to get out the inexpensive way find yourself a truck spring pack from a junkyard those are more than likely 5160. You will have to bend it flat though. Alliteratively there are a few places that sell steel blanks for knife making. ebay is a easy place to find steel. I use 5160 for my choppers and 1095 for my cutters.

Now try to imagine LOST with zombies. Sounds pretty cool to me, maybe big hoss would have lost weight or been eaten. I'm glad a third season is in the works, now where's the $$ to get it done right!

Doesn't matter. They're wasting time being dramatic. Blast in and get away from the immediate threat.

And I doubt they brought a flashlight. Much like bringing multiple semi autos with full mags, that would just make too much sense.

I thought they were using flashlights when they were looking at the "list" and gathering supplies. Heavy Six likely got hungry and ate them but I coulda sworn that they had them.

I was thinking the same thing on the semi's. All the police and military vehicles and not one weapon better than what they had? I know there are people that are lol for lack of better words "attached" to particular weapons but sometimes ya gotta cut that bitch loose and upgrade to more firepower. Hell set up a couple of those oxygen tanks they had in there on the ground and bust the necks off. After a lil zombie bowling ya haul ass back out the way ya came. VERY poor planning. Of course it helps if ya got an IED MacGuyver on your side as well lol.

The longer they stay stuck between the two entries the more attention they are bringing to themselves from inside and outside. If they would have busted through immediately they may have caught the zeds off guard and been able to find an alternative escape.

I dont understand why shane went inside with otis.  He could have waited in the truck after creating the distration with the flares that got them into the building, and when otis finished getting the supplies and signaled, shane could have drove up in the truck and they both could have made a quick get away.

If I remember correctly, shane wasn't carrying any of the supplies they picked up, only Otis was, so its not like he even needed to go in.

They both had backpacks on, you can see when they went running into the building where they kinda got trapped.

I agree that one shouldve went inside and the other couldve waited. Also, I wouldve went around the building to see if it was clear on the other side. I realize this is TV and they have to add drama, so there is awhole lot that we would do differently. lol..

Before I pick this show apart to death I'm really trying hard to look at the characters in this show and compare it to when I start to play a new video game. At first my tactics are bad because I don't know how to anticipate the enemies next move. Only through trial and error do I get a grasp of what my enemies can and can't do and only then can I deploy much better tactics. I'm hoping for the sake of the show and our collective IQs that we are simply seeing rookies in action who are slowly but surely gaining tactical momentum as they learn their foes. If they can't grow the characters emotionally and tactically more over the next season I think we will tire of the insistent dumbassary. Daryl ftw...

The problem is, it seems they had better tactics at the end of Season 1 and they look like rookies in Season 2, I agree, they should be seasoned veterans by now. Zombies all act alike and move the same, wouldnt be hard to counter this.

I actually just thought of this as i was playing call of duty zombies, and how when i first got the new one i did pretty terrable for a while, cuz it was so different from the original zombies, and after trial and error u realize how to stratagize

Granted it's just a series and who knows what the screenplay wirters and directors were thinking, but I will put this forward.

1/ The events of the previous 24 hours wold have led to much fatigue, stress, duress and even exhaustion with little sleep, food or water. these things can all cloud judgement and performance.

2/ Shane and Otis went off half cocked out of necessity with zero planning or preparation. It simply wasn't possible. After dark fell, it would have been difficult to egress without significant risk anyway you look at it.

3/ Most men and women in such a situation would have said forget Karl, I'm not going out there and stayed in the trailer once they saw darkness had fallen and the area was thick with zeds. (of course this may have been a better course of action, at least temporarily or until morning)

4/ Although Otis knew of the location by sight, he would not have been familiar with the detailed layout. After dark, the whole equation changes.

5/ Although we can armchair quarterback, and say "I would have done this" and thats all well and good, nobody knows exactly how they will react once the adrenaline starts pumping and the chips are on the table.

6/ It could be that their plan sucked and they acted stupidly, but sometimes even veteran, trained and intelligent people make big mistakes in the heat of the moment.

So I'm willing to take it all at entertainment value.

I could see it being Glenn coming to the rescue. A new character would certainly give this series some much needed momentum.

We are seeing rookies.  Kirkman has said, a couple different times now, that the characters don't know anything about zombies.  In that world, Romero never made a zombie movie.  The characters just simply don't know what to do.

Im not even convinced he needed to do that, if shane had all that time to try to get the backpack and fight for a bit y couldnt they both just keep walking and juat save that round if he needed to do it later.

But now that he did, was the shaving of his hair to hide the chunk that was takin out, or is it some brittney spears shit, were hes gunna change as a person

he needed to do that because hes Shane and he is a dick ! If he had the slightest worry that something would happen to him he is willing to sacrifice anything or anybody . Thats just his character and i think it will start to show more as the show continues

I got more that he did it because he knew both of them could not make it, and get the med supplies back to Carl if he didn't.

Nope!  Shames a dick and only looking out for himself.  The only reason he is at all concerned about Carl is because he sees it as a way back into Lori's pants.  He only cares about himself.

Like I said, you only have to be faster than your friends, not the zombies. I guess someone was listening to me at AMC

I agree that he did it to save himself. If he was so concerned about the other dude making it, he couldve taken both backpacks to help him out. And if I got flesh eaters barreling down on me, Im going to put way more effort to get the hell out of there than they did. Also being a cop, youd think Shane would have better tactics instead of a hail mary run for the truck.

You guys are all wrong. Shane killing otis was an essential survival decision. A man still that fat months after TEOTWAWKI is obviously eating the rations of four normal sized malnutritioned survivors. Shane was simply doing what was best for the group and getting rid of one tubby who likes to not look where he is shooting.

What I am more concerned about is how they are still taking showers and still have power. Shane did not even turn the shower off while he went to shave his head....thats it shane just waste another 20 gallons of precious water.

They are on a farm - perhaps they have a solar array or wind turbine for power, water is from a well (either electric or wind turbine).

fuel to heat the water can come from a wood stove or perhaps there is a natural gas well on the property.

Don't fret the details.

Did everyone forget that 5 min earlier Shane fell and told Ottis to go on and save him self? They needed a distraction.

Domino's pizza has obviously survived the zombie apocalypse, pie so nasty not even a zombie will eat it...

Apparently they'd rather eat the legs off a hanging zombie who died for auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Personally...

I would have slowly lured them onto the bus, letting them all pile in following me to the back.  I would have then hopped out the emergency exit rear door latching it behind me and locking in the zeds.  I would have then run to the front to slam shut the open front door latching it shut.  Then just set it on fire, and casually walk back to the truck and cruise home and proceed to smash the new cute chick being the badass rambo chuck norris type that I am....

Well he did obviously provide venison. And an artesian well with a sun heated elevated cistern will give as much hot water as you need.

Had slaphead not taken that fall out of the window and hurt himself he wouldn't have been in a position where he had to make a shit decision. He had confidence in his own abilities to get the urgently needed supplies back to the farm to save the kid.

While they were in the Gym they were in a position of authority in as much as had they had better weapons they could have slotted them all within 5 minutes, I didn't count them but there were only about 30 or so undead there. I'm sure that any of us even with a light loadout would have made short work of them.

The zombie in the tree made me laugh my socks off, and his note to the living was a classic, not to mention the legs of lame that had been chewed to bits.
