It's just plywood, sono-tube/PVC, sisal rope and some carpet remnants.
You could easily make one from scrap. I did. I weighted the base with a cinder block and mixed catnip in with the glue I affixed the rope with. I got the carpet from a hotel I was gigging in. It matches their ballroom. I made it for a chick I was plookin' at the time so I don't have any pictures of it. Her cat liked to climb stuff so I put a deck on top, hence the weighted base. The cat probably still appreciates me. |

I can't justify spending that kind of money on a cat that has tasted my blood..... |
The worst thing about cat trees is that there is no guarantee the cat(s) will go near it. We've tried 4 to replace the old shredded tower of doom but the cats won't go near them and we've had to take them back or sell them at a discount. Even putting the old tower in the garage for a month didn't get them to use the replacement. So the ratty arse thing is back in the living room. We've got happy cats but we also have a cat tree that looks like it lost a fight with a wood chipper. I've thought about re-carpeting the post but I'm worried the little blighters will think it is new. Oh well, the cats are more important to us than decor anyway

You can also grab a handfull of fur and rub it all over the tree. Cats are suspicious of new things. Put their scent on it for them. |
