We came back from vacation and the cat is limping. She's 1yo and had kittens in June 09. It's her front left paw around the elbow. She will scratch and stretch it, but will not walk on it. Since she can move it, I believe a bone isn't broken, possibly a sprain. But I could be wrong. Should I take her to the vet for x-rays or watch for a few more days? |
| I caught a ferel cat that wouldn't put any weight on his front paw, and was hopping along on 3 legs, that's the reason I decided to put out a trap to catch him, so when he was caught a few days later I just kept him in the trap overnight and took him to the vet in the morning and the vet couldn't find anything wrong and upon taking him home realized he wasn't even limping anymore. It could be something simple that will heal itself. |

Quoted:
I was looking for blood but there wasn't any that I saw. It is tender and she will hiss after I was feeling the area for a bit. Today she was using the paw to clean herself, I'll wait a few days. If it's tender there may be an abscess. Swelling may not be evident due to the fur. Injuries like strains & sprains heal very quickly on cats, so if she's still limping or favoring the paw after 2 or 3 days, take her to the vet to have it checked & lanced. |

The Vet had to clean out the bite mark and we had her fixed. It turns out she was pregnant again after 14 weeks from her last litter. So the bite was from the male not pleased with her performance. Vet bills are always expensive these days. |
