goto your local vet asap...if you wait you might get stuck having to go to one of those 24 hr emergency clinics like we did...we waited and our dog just about died at 0200hours one morning. We took her to the 24 hr clinic-the place where they can do doggy heart transplants and they got photos and plaques on the wall of the vet thats looking at your dog, in the washington post that nursed and healed a pit that was shot 12 times...these places are great but are like 300% more $ than your local vet.
Our dog had parvo and geridia...they cured her good but it was 1500.00 bucks and they would have charged us more if I didnt say Im gonna pay you the 1.5k, pick her up and take her out back of my house and put her down. They bucked and didnt charge us any more-we got another 2 days admission from them - (it was a blufff of course hehe) the clinic was awesom btw So get your dog to the vet b4 your bills skyrocket...because parvo/geridia left alone will cause the bills to grow due to admitting the pup. Dont let your pup drink any standing water-thats how ours got it-drinking water in teh streams on Bull Run-lots of shit in there and she got both |

Very unfortunate to read, what did they think it was? It may have been parvo not 100% but hope his brother won't get it got to hope the shots he got will work but vet said still a chance. 3 years ago we had a bunch of puppies and they had their shots at maybe 3 months, in june when they were 8 months old the smallest pup got parvo and she actually recovered after a few days, her sister got it about a day after she did and passed away in 2 days, 3 of the boys got it, 1 of the boys passed away in 3 days, 2 of other boys pulled through after almost a week at the vet, and 1 boy and another smaller girl never seemed to even get it. It's seems to effect dogs differently. |

I am so sorry about the loss of both pets. I am always curious about the efficiency of the vaccinations we give the pups. Did they both have a full series of vaccinations from eight weeks through the time they passed or did they just have their first eight week vaccination in place? Do you happen to know who the manufacturer of the vaccine was (your vet should have it in their records) If so, please report the failure to the manufacturer and if it was Intervet, they may reimburse some of your vet bills. Also, I don't know if your vet advised you but you should not acquire another pup for a minimum of six months until the virus is no longer active in the house and property. A fully vaccinated adult dog should be okay, but most advise waiting for any new dog just to be safe. |
Just a suggestion but you probably want to actually read the whole thread before responding. ![]() Quoted: This happened to my shepherd at about 6 months. They ended up putting him on an IV because he got very dehydrated. This is a serious risk for dogs. Take no chances, it's probably nothing, but be safe, take him to the vet. |
