I have 10 week old GSD puppy my SIL saw worms in his poop she said they were a couple cm long. He had a de wormer with his shots last month. How worried should I be and what am I looking at for treatment.

Worms in the poop means that the de-wormer is working I believe.

It probably wouldn't hurt to treat the puppy again with an otc de-wormer from TSC, or PetCo.

Don't freak out, puppies get worms.

Depends on the dewormer used as to what it kills.   I would expect to see the worms right after using the dewormer not one month after.  Did your vet not recommend checking a fecal sample at your puppy visit?  Because of the life cycle of some parasites you need to deworm multiple times- whip worms are an example of this.  Usually recommend doing it again in 3 weeks some even recommend doing it again 3 months after that.  If you want to get a pretty broad spectrum dewormer go to the pet store and get "Panacur" and use as directed.  It will get most of the worms except or some uncommon kinds of tape worms.

Thanks guy I take him back at the end of the month for another set of shots and I think they give home another dewormer, but will check the other options.

Give the vet a call.  Same thing happened to 1 of my dogs a while back, they said he probably swallowed larvae of a bug and somehow it made its way through his system. Took him back and they gave him different meds and he was fine.

My dog was wormed three times.

The way most dewormer works is that it puts worms "to sleep" where they release their hold and get passed out of the GI system.
