About an hour ago I was taking a cruise on my motorcycle down Memorial Drive near the HPD Memorial. I saw two older HPD cruisers driving in tandem. I recognized both of them as the cars Jason had done restoration work on. I tucked in behind them as an escort. I noticed several cars along the way recognize what they were - other drivers giving thumbs up and waves of support. Jason's father Mike was one of the drivers and we delivered the cars to Jason's house. Mike seemed to be hanging tough, having had enough time to come to accept what has happened. Jason's pilot Officer Cormier apparently is recovering slowly with a spinal injuries. One of the other officers at the house was Cormier' former patrol tandem partner.
There has been an outpouring of support on various message boards such as Nextdoor, from friends, neighbors, the church where he worked security, from the restaurants he frequented for lunch, the bus drivers of his children, etc. There will likely be a very large turnout for the ceremonies this weekend.
