Hey, just seeing what you guys think about my band, were kind of a punk, Blink 182-ish band.
We have been playing together for 3 years off and on between and during deployments, and finally got around to recording out music at a studio last month. Our Facebook page has the complete story about us on it. Below are the links to our main page, and our band page with our music, feel free to listen to it, share it and let us know what you think. The song " Straws " was written this year for one of our fallen brothers and a great friend to the band, the song means a lot to us. Thanks! - 7$D Main Band Page Music Page |

Not trying to be a dick, but my honest opinions.
I really don't see how the music is influenced by Rush at all. I see the blink 182. Your songs sound to be comprised mostly of a few power chords with some basic lead here and there, backed by basic drum beats. They are very simple, while rush is known for a little more complexity. Specifically the drummer's profile says that he takes his style from neil pert. Again not trying to be an asshole, but i dont see it. He can play some basic rhythms with some fills thrown in. But from the songs online, that was all he did. I'm sure he's a lot better than what was in the recordings, but you can't go too crazy on drums or else it distracts from the rest of the song. For the type of music, he played what was appropriate, but it was not in the style of neil pert. Also, did you guys record that in a studio? and was it professionally mixed? some of the levels seemed a bit off. It may be just my speakers though. The singers voice was very loud. And the drums had that 'hollow' sound. Which may or may not be from being mic'ed properly. Its tough to mic drums because in a perfect world you'd have quality drum mics on every drum and cymbal and be able to adjust each level individually. Unfortunately that is retardedly expensive. Finally, you need a bass. I know that adding a 3rd person could be tough (or even impossible) but that sound needs to be there to tie the drums to the guitar. without it, it's missing something. Just for the sake of recordings, pick one up and have the guitarist play the bass and layer it on top of everything else. Just some constructive criticism. take it for what its worth. and thanks for your service. |
