Beaver, the ultimate "bush" plane.

Here's the lines to a song I never finished:

I knew I couldn't leave her,

When I saw she had a turbo Beaver.

No such thing as a bad DeHavilland of Canada product.

On a historical note, there is a small neat statue at the front of old DeHavilland plant at Downsview (now part of Bombardier, they build Q400s there) with a Mosquito on top with DeHavilland WWII war dead

Now that, I can say I haven't seen before.  Wonder how it works?  Better than the big tires?  Still in use?  Definitely different.

I guess you have never been to THE BUSH.  i'll post more pictures of real bush planes later.  Ever see a 10 seat piston twin land on a 1800 foot gravel strip.  I have, from the pilot seat.

More.

Plenty of area filled in between the back and the rudder on this one.

Here it is on floats.

And after it landed in someone's backyard. Literally. Fence all around. A one-in-a-million miracle.

I've flown in this one on both skis and amphibs

Flown in this one, too.

For those that like "romantic" old bush planes:

There is a 7300lb 10 seat twin in 4 of these pictures.  Plus a Amfib twin and a 4 engine piston cargo plane.  All pictures taken in real bush Alaska.  Guess which plane only operates 4 months of the year.  The others all work 365.

Sure, welcome to the present day.
It's like looking at my Willy's Jeep and my F250.
One of them only drives a few days a month, the other tows a lot regularly.

But, of course, the Willy's was a farm truck in Maine for most of it's life, and now it's resting.

I loved Wager With the Wind when I was younger, and I've had the good fortune to travel on many a bush plane.

And yes, I like the romantic ones best.

So what percentage of bush planes are turbos these days and how many are still running recip?

Loved the photos.
