Any ARFCOMers gonna be there? Aviator |

A coworker went down. The past two weeks all we heard was, "X days until Sun 'n Fun." He said he was going to call the office and let us hear airplanes flying by on his cell phone. That would be a cold, heartless act. I'll have to be content with the Charleston AFB Air Expo the 26th. The Thunderbirds are headlining. There will be demos by the F-22, F-15E, F-18s, and of course the C-17. The Golden Knights will also be jumping. Civilian acts include Patty Wagstaff (who is also performing at Sun 'n Fun), and a team of SIX T-28s! The T-28s came in two flavors. The SMALL engine is an 800 HP radial. The big engine is a 1425 HP motor. With all six in the air the sounds should be memorable. I hope to do S&F next year. Have fun and give us an after action report. |
| Not to sound jaded, but I gave up years ago on just about any function associated with the EAA. I used to go down to Sun-N-Fun every year until I realized it was nothing but a bunch (okay, a ton) of weekend warriors flying in every which direction. No-COMM and No-SA...trouble just waiting to happen if you ask me. |
I stopped going to any flyin that has a airshow, especially a military airshow. |

Walked around a bit today. Some very cool stuff. Talked to a lot of vendors. Lots of old warbirds. The campground is just PACKED. I doubt I would try flying in here, but camping works out pretty good. Have an excellent spot of the Thunderbirds on Thurs-Sun. Oh, and lots of interesting conversations you hear from all the old airplane codgers. Aviator |
| gave it up a long time ago. Flew in one time in a Seneca....same altitude for everybody, some asshole in a Bonanza in front of us had to prove to the world he could slow fly the damn thing..................full flaps, gear down, we did all we could to not drop out of the sky!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tower opened the runway to twins and bigger (they land on a taxiway usually)....we were the first to land on the runway that day |
