Why'd the airplane call him a retard?

He would be a retard if he goes on the miss more than once.

The both had lights in sight by 200' AGL.  Those landings were nailed 3 miles out.

Absolutely correct, sir! Landings usually begin screwing up 10 miles out.

That was nothing.

That was basic CAT I ILS mins in the first one, anyway.

Also - in a 767 they won't be hand flying anything less than CAT I mins, it'll most likely be autopilot for CAT II, and for damn sure CAT III is autopilot.

When I was upgrading to captain on the 737, we handflew 0/0 approaches with the HUD as a confidence builder.  But you could NEVER do that on the line.

And in the second one, the weather was actually HIGHER than the first one, not lower.

Listin to the callouts, both from the EGPWS, and from the pilot monitoring (well, that is what we call him anyway.....)

After the EGPWS says "300" but before it calls out "one hundred above" the PM calls "**something I coudln't make out** in sight" - probably approach lights or something along those lines.

It looks like they were using 150 RA (or thereabouts) as mins, but they were above that when they broke out.

Dispatching the plane to 500/500/500 mins is not the same as flying the plane to 500/500/500 mins!
