I felt bad asking for an extra 60 seconds before takeoff and making DL and UPS wait but knew it was the right thing to do. I've only done that airport a couple times and it was my first time as a Captain. |

The good thing is you’re fresh out of training so it like the simulator, but for reals! 😳 Its your and Pickle's fault. Last night, cleared for takeoff in front of DL on a 3 mile final. Throttle advancement, FIRE WARN light and fire bell prior to TOGA initiation. Rejected takeoff. Engine instruments normal. Bell stopped, no other lights observed. Taxiied clear, brake energy, tested all fire loops, dispatch and MX control, returned to park to get a/c cleared by MX. Sorry Delta! |

100 hour curse remains. #2 EGT flashing after engine start, just below max idle. Per mx, shutdown and restarted. Still flashing. Back to the chocks. They hit a reset button, did an engine run. We pushed out again. Good engine start. Highest EGT on start 640, rolled back to 620 after start then climbed steadily to 695. 737 Classic idle range is 450-650. Back to the chocks. Canceled awaiting engine shop. |

| So... I have received an interview invite with a legacy airline. The interview is a little over 3 weeks out. Ive been receiving some coaching over the past year from a couple of the interview prep companies but it's time to put it into high gear. |

| Interview day is tomorrow. Ive prepped with not one but two companies AND have a friend who was previously a coach at an interview company who has spent hours going over interview prep. I still can't help but feel unprepared. Imposter syndrome kicking in hard this evening. Send prayers. |

Master Caution and AUTO FAIL light on climbout today. Cabin altitude uncontrollable in STBY or Manual. Leveled off at 9000, brought her back and landed. Next jet had a TCAS fail light off/on most of the flight. |

| Our Director of Operations called after landing. Told me he was very pleased with how I handled it. Filled out an incident report in WBAT but not an ASAP. |

Got told today by my company's Director of Training and Chief Pilot that they'd both like to see me become a check airman next year. Lots to ponder on that. I was an instructor and evaluator on the MQ-1 and MQ-9... and I love teaching and actively do so as a Captain on my current equipment to the FOs I fly with... but I feel I'd be doing a disservice in stepping into that role before 1500 to 2000 hours in the left seat. Honestly, I don't want to be here that long. I turn 51 in January and need to get to the right destination. I think God needed me to learn some more before I move on... and He has plans for either a different destination or different timing with regards to the legacy that I was told to reapply in a year with. |

Wow. What a great rotation. All three FOs i flew with were former USAF (two fresh off of OE and the other just off consolidation). Very sharp. Two week rotation but our whole CVG team all grilled out together on Christmas day. This week was challenging... lots of low level windshear and Yesterday I got sent to take a tail to rescue a broken tail and take the broken tail to heavy maintenance. Plenty of abnormal things but my FO and I managed to find the pitfalls and avoid them. (Examples: Leaking APU, unknown weight on a ballast pallet, manual W&B, special procedure for a DMI'd bleed air issue, unfamiliar airport at night with really bad lighting and a tower that cant see us (Dothan). There's something cooking... all I can say is that if youre a praying type Id appreciate some prayers for support roughly 3 weeks from today. |

At the final approach fix we have 80 knots of cross wind, heavy rain. Jet on the ILS in back of us gets hit by lightning and diverts to Boston. We keep going. Tower never called the winds again. She touches down demonstrating a new max crosswind cert. Does a great job. No gates. LGA is now ground stop. We finally get a gate, 1/2 the people get off and are not getting back on. We get paperwork. We have 16 minutes to get gas, taxing and take off to be 16 hour duty day compliant and I decide I am not jumping through my ass to try and make it, not doable safely and message the dispatcher and tell them we are done, tell scheduling we need a hotel. I told the 60 people left that stayed that we are cancelled and they all clapped and were happy to get off the jet. They didn't want to go back to LGA either. Fun times. |
