This thing looks great on paper. 155 mph cruise on 11 gph! The only thing not so great is the $515,000 price tag.

Now, with Cessna "leading" the industry, they can lobby, alongwith the EPA, to ban 100LL.

A Twin Star (DA42) will do fast cruise of 164kts @ 14.3 gph (18k ft) or 135kts @ 7.1gph (10k ft) for about the same price used. And that's on two engines.

It would come from the factory with the motor, so it would be part of it's type certification.

True, but I don't have a multi-engine rating.

Considering the Diamond does the same speed at roughly 3/4 the fuel burn, you might still come out ahead if you bought one and got your multi  with the price of Jet A

Yikes,

Half a mil for a single engine, 4 cylinder, 4 place aluminum aircraft of classic design. No thanks.

Do you have half a mil to spend on anything?

Hence why I said, I hope they STC the mofo into existing C182's that need a new engine.

Don't kid yourself. We spend over $15,000 every 300 hours having the gearboxes overhauled on our Twinstars.

Does this mean that the AvGas C-182 fleet gets retrofitted with 'Hoover' rings now?
