How long will Cohiba's last outside of a humidor before they start to dry out ?? Given to me by a friend are the following; (2) Cohiba Toro Tubo's.. (1) Cohiba XV 660 in a wrapper.. I'm still new to cigars and have not yet bought myself a humidor, nor do I know one Cohiba from the next !!

Good suggestions I was going to ask, where are ou located? I ask because it depends on the relatively humidity. If it is relatively humid, the longer thay can stay, but if you are in the desert heat, they dry up very fast. Next time, just in case, have the cigar shop put a humidifier pak in the bag, and you should be fine. Another option is to purchase a Fuente humidor bag, they can keep cigars up to 6 months. |
I'm in upstate NY... Mike... |

Along with relative humidity, temperature also has a lot to do with the length of time your cigars stay "healthy". At colder temperatures, ambient air has less ability to hold moisture. As temperature increases, humidity can remain in the air. In cold winter weather like you see up there (here too in Chicago), you should not keep them in the open for more than an hour or so in open air. Of course, this is just my opinion. |

as mentioned, Fuente Humidor Bags are a very good way to store cigars for guys who only get a few at a time They add or subtract humidity as needed to maintain ~70% The paper towel method will work in a pinch, but can over-humidify a cigar too. Cigars that are over humidified will not smoke well either. |

Most of the cigars shops sell their empty boxes. $3-$5. Buy a big wooden one with a lip around the opening, & buy some sort of humidification device. I use these without humidification to dry out new/moist cigars & for travel. I have found that a cigar really smooths out after about 3 months in a humidor. Just buy a box/ bundle & let them sit for 90 days. This can make an OK cigar really good, & it can a good cigar heaven. I bought my humidor in a Steinmart for $25. Just for reference, my all time favorite smokes are the Partagas Black Label Magnifico Maduros. I always keep some of these on hand. Good Luck! Johnny C! |
