I have always enjoyed smoking cigars but know nothing about them. I want to try a few different kinds to see what I like best. The only type I have smoked and remember the name is cohiba (and not sure if that's a type or brand) . So I was wondering what kinds I should pick up that are similar to cohiba?

Cohiba is a brand, two brands really. There's the Cuban Cohiba brand which is desirable but embargoed and not commonly available in the US (but really isn't all that hard to get). And there's a Dominican brand that's allowed to exist as "Cohiba" in the US because we don't recognize Cuban copyrights and trademarks.

You probably had the Dominican, also know as Red Dot Cohiba for the red dot inside the O in its logo, the Cuban Cohiba has a yellow band. As far as what tastes like a Cohiba, I've never had a Dominican Cohiba, and nothing really tastes like a CUban Cohiba but a Cuban Cohiba. But there are any number of great medium bodied cigars to try. I like Arturo Fuentes, and if you want to step up to a slightly stronger cigar San Cristobal.

Anything from Don Pepin Garcia & family, camacho, san cristobal (garcia), tatuaje & AJ fernandez (for me anyway ) & La Flor Dominicana.  You cant really go wrong.

Avoid the Cohiba unless you are travelling.. the dominican blows.

Also avoid pretty much everything from the altadis group with the possible exception of the montecristo white.

Watch the whatcha got lit up now thread for reccomendations.

Don't listen to Echo.

head on over to C-Bid, just to browse of course

Hemingway Short Story
My Uzi Weighs A Ton
Papas Fritas
Man O War

Any of those will get you off to a good start. None are too strong and the top three are smaller sized which should last 30 - 45 minutes. Man O War is the brand with abunch of different kinds of cigars. All are good imo except that one I can't think of the name of, it's too weak imo.

Man O War Virtue is the mild one. It's a light colored Connecticut wrapper. Generally, cigars with Connecticut wrappers are mild, and while you might like them and should definitely try one, most people grow out of them and find them boring compared to bolder sticks.

Those are flavored or infused cigars. Think of grape flavored cigars.
