So i took time and seasoned my new humidor. I did the distilled water in a bowl. I took the bowl out and it maintanied a humindity of 70% for three days with not water in it. I then start adding cigars. I think i have a total of 40 and am using the product below to maintain the humidity. I have four of these tubes in my Humidor and i cant get the humidity above 60% now. Does anyone have any good ideas on what i can do?

I have not had good luck with the Drymistats.

Very good luck with the Humicare "pillows".

Get some beads then wait. It's all about patience. Cigars are not fragile flowers.

winter climate will affect the humidity level as well.  besides, 70% is WAY to high.  i keep mine between 60-65%.

HaHa.

I just bought some beads for my 40 gar humidor.  They work pretty well, but winter weather is hard on the system.  I have been refilling every 2 weeks with distilled water.  It does maintain about 65% now.  I was having a hard time keeping it at 60% when I was using the cheap fiber humidifier that came with it.

Not knowing the size and type of humidor you have, this may or may not work. What I do:

Take out the trays and wipe everything wood that isn't going to touch the cigars with water.

Take a ramekin with a little water in it and put a fluffed up wet paper towel in it so it acts like a wick with a large surface area. Place this on one of the trays.

Make sure the humidor is right around 70 degrees.

Put the cigars in and let things equilibrate. I have a tub of silica gel kitty litter in the bottom.

I have to do this every so often with my coolidor. It can go three seasons and stay stable, but it needs attention during the winter.

This is the truth. Winter kills good humidor humidity. FACT

I have a 125 stick humidor. I finally have it holding steady at 64%. I have four of the humi sticks and a couple of the Boveda Humidifier 72% packs. The winter is just a hard time to keep the humidity up. Thanks for the advice.
