So I was enjoying a cigar tonight and while I was drawing on it I could hear what sounded like a sizzling sound, almost like water drops on a hot pan. So now I'm hoping I wasn't smoking beetle larvae and it was just a stem holding moisture or something like that. I just got the cigars in the mail this in an order from Cigar. com, and it was there House Blend Purple label I was smoking tonight. I ordered them with some Rocky Patel vintage 90's and Decades, Gurkha Beauties, and Monte Christo Whites. All these sticks have been in a separate humidor from my other cigars so I'm hoping it's not beetles and all the smokes will be ruined. I couldn't see pin holes in any of them.
Sorry for the lengthy question, it was a pretty big order for me on a disabled vet/general contractor budget and I don't want to have to be out the money I paid because of beetles.

Shoot. Oh well. Didn't taste as bad as I thought. The other ones still seem fine. Hopefully it was just Beetle larvae in the one and I smoked the bastard's before they could hatch. Man that sounds disgusting. Just to be safe I will keep the others from that order in my spare humidor for a while. Next full moon here isn't until the 27th of march. Looks like I have some time to get my affairs in order before I turn. Thanks guys!

If your box never gets above 70 degrees you have nothing to worry about. If it does, take those out and put them in a plastic bag and finish them off or freeze them according to instructions.

Sometimes oils or something will make little sizzles - I've had that with a few different sticks.

Thanks, yeah box stays below 70 (pretty easy to do right now in Oregon) and at 65%. I haven't heard it on any of the other cigars from that particular purchase and I've since tried another of the cigar that was making the sounds. Everything I've read has said that it could be any number of things including oils or moisture in the stems. I'm hoping that's what it was. I mean worse case scenario I smoked some bugs before they could hatch and I enjoyed the taste. I just hope I didn't acquire a taste for them now.
