| So, I'm a pipe smoker, wanting to pick up a few good cigars for my collection. I'm more of a light, smooth, flavored type smoker, and I don't smoke all too often. Any tips for a newb cigar guy from the experienced? There's a cigar shop down the road from me, the Tobacco Box, going to go visit there next week, just looking for a heads up before heading there., |

A good mild good flavored smoke I always go to is the CAO gold robusto. Almost all smoke shops will carry that one. Here are a couple others that are mid bodied smokes. -Romeo y Julieta 1875 (any size) -Fuente Queen B -anything by macanudo. -Chateau Fuente in the black and white aluminum tubes Those are some of mild/mids that I like from time to time and none of them will break the bank. Good cigars if you just want to get the feet wet. |

Quoted: Macanudo anything My thoughts as well, but they are a good starter smoke. Not overwhealming with flavor, no nicotine kick, smoke output doesnt blow a new smokers sinus's into pieces....yeah, for those of us with more time under our belts and sticks burned up, we turn away from the macanudo. But I will always point a new smoker to them. |

Smoking a San cristobal elegancia right now & it is extremely smooth & mild. Like sucking on a tit through a sheet as my father would say. Not a bad cigar at all just not for me I think. That's the one!!! Yes, very mild but still enjoyable. For me, a morning smoke with coffee. Great for a new smoker. |

If you see any of the Fuente cigars that have a green stripe on the band, that means it is a shade grown wrapper IIRC. All of those are mild smokes, very light pepper and smooth. A little one dimensional (no complex flavors and no changes in flavor profiles) I had one of the Fuente Cuban Coronas with my coffee this morning. Great little smoke. Got a 5 pack of them on Da Debil site for 5 bucks. |

You might be a fan of Connecticut wrappers. Try one and find out. Barring that I'd recommend a Padron 3000 or similar. Don't try a Cain F or anything related if you like smoothe flavors, cigars like Cains can be a kick in the teeth. Agreed. Also, going with light and smooth, I'd add the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario Toro, Zino Platinum Z-Class, Davidoff Millennium Blend Robusto, and the Diamond Crown Julius Caeser. For a rare/occasional smoker, the higher costs on them wont be a big issue, and all are well worth the price, and have lots of interesting favors to keep you going, and tend to smooth and creamy.IMHO. Did you say "mildly-flavored" or "mild AND flavored?"
If the former, everybody else gave some great suggestions. I also like Ashton Cabinets and Oliva Connecticut Reserves. If the latter. look at the Drew Estates ACID line. Not a fan of the Kuba Kuba (the flavoring is overpowering, like smoking an air freshener) but the Natural and the Liquid are both a little less aggressive. |
