I've been wondering, how does one know the rolling/boxing date, if planning to age some cigars?

In the past, I have just tried to remember when I bought them, but now I'm starting to mark boxes

with the purchase date after a question by jrfoxx about how old some cigars were.

Still I'm unsure, because who knows how long they were stored in a warehouse somewhere?

For example CigarBid; I've gotten some from them with yellowed cellophane as soon as I got them.

Some I'm sure you can guess close enough if they are new or yearly releases or something.

How do you guys estimate/guesstimate or determine the date for aging purposes?

The box date can be found on the bottom of the box of forbidden sticks.
The rest....use your purchase date.

Yup. AFAIK, only cubans put dates on boxes, which leaves you with purchase date as the only real option for NC's, unless someone at your local B&M could tell you they have had them for x amount of time, so you could use that date instead. For actual manufacturing or boxing date, you're kinda out of luck.

I wish NC's did have a box date, as t would be pretty helpful.

As far as getting ones with yellowing cellophane, from what I have seen, it takes at least a year for me to see even a hint of yellow, and at least 3 years for the yellow to be easily noticeable.so you could kind of estimate based on things like that, but its still a guess and pretty subjective. plus, i would think storage conditions and locations, and differences in the cellophane  itself would change how yellow they get how fast fairly easily (but that's just a guess too)

It's pretty easy, just follow my method:

1. Fall off a mountain.  Do it twice.

2. Order cigars.

3. Put cigars in giant coolerdore.

4. Be pleasantly surprised each year as you discover long lost cigars that have been aging for a year.

(The easiest way? Just mark the purchase MM/YY on the box/bundle with a sharpie before storing)
