My first foray into this area...

I'm not a real big cigar smoker, but I do occasionally light one up if the mood is right. My bosses, on the other hand, are more avid smokers than I and both have acquired new humidors for their houses. With Christmas being around the corner I thought I'd get them both some nice cigars and maybe a nice (Xikar?) cutter. I don't have the funds to buy them a box each, but do want to spend around $100 per person (including the cutter). I've heard they like Padrons and Arturo Fuentes, but not sure which line.

While those are the ones I've been looking at, maybe y'all can suggest something else they might like. They're a cross between an everyday and celebratory smoker and they love the more full bodied ones. They either drink Jameson 18 or Balvenie 15.

Thanks.

Try the 601 blue.  They are full bodied smokes that are available at a cheap price.

Also, the Padron Londres Maduros are full bodied smokes that are extremely tasty, yet cheap.

For a nice, full bodied Fuente, the Don Carlos' and the Anejo's are very good, quite popular, not too much $$ really, and pretty easily found on the net (no idea how available at B&M's, as I dont really have one here)

Padron's I have not personally had (but will be having a nice, well aged one that was sent to me, for christmas)

Personally I like the Padron 3000 and for AF, the short story is really something special and is perfect for the times when you don't have 45 minutes to an hour to enjoy a stick.

for the fuentes i would suggest any of the Anejo line. especially if they smoke often they will appreciate the fact they got a cigar that only comes out once a year.  for the padrons  i would suggest the 1926 maduro #9.  i have heard alot of good things about the padron family reserve cigars, aka the little hammer.
xikar is a great choice for a cutter.

Xikar Ultra package

Sweet cutter/lighter combo!!!

King Rat posted a pic in the "What lighters do you use?" thread.
A little pricey but as a Xikar fiend....I would love that!

For cigars......no woay to go wrong with the Padron '26 #9 Maduro like mentioned already.
It is just damn good!!!

Google Padron 1926 sampler, might be in your price range with a cutter.

I don't know if the different sizes would be what your looking for, but I think a sampler would be a nice gift.

I doubt they need a new cutter if they're avid smokers.  As for the cigar, any brand under Don Pepin Garcia's name is usually a good bet. How about the Papgayo XXL, I like it, although some people have something against big ring gauge cigars.  Any Padron will be great.

Reason I want to get them a cutter is because neither one ever has one handy when one is needed. I figure the more they have, the more chances of one being around when needed –– a Benchmade does make a handy punch.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations, please keep them coming. Plus this would be a great way for me to learn a but about cigars myself.

Another quick question, better to order online or to visit the local shop? I have plenty within driving distance from me and I believe it will yield a better product.

Again, thanks.

I would buy from your local shop.  It is always great to support your local shop.  The local shops are being hurt by online sales.

Yep.  Local shops are always more expensive than online but the hands on experience and atmosphere can't be bought online.

Also while you're at the local shop, see if they have a keychain cigar punch.  I carry a punch on my keychain all the time and never know it's there until I need it.

Local shops are always great to visit, preferably the ones with huge walk-in humidors. There is nothing else like walking into a humidor and just browsing around and smelling the air. Interestingly enough it seems to make the wallet lighter every time.

I figured you guys would say local and I know that would be best –– at least I know they are stored right.

Thanks again for all the help.
